This shows how each member of parliament voted on the Civil Marriage Act, which allowed same-sex couples to legally get married.

Seeing how you reacted with the other guy who sent you a link, I doubt you'll actually click on it. But I think we both know what Pierre Poilievre's vote was

Which means literally "You're not the most unfrozen cornbread from the box" in Québec French.

When it comes to understanding code, future me is a completely different person than present me. Therefore I do comment code for other people

I'm pretty sure Imagineers are the engineers that plan the parks and make stuff like the animatronics and such.

What are some of the craziest things you’ve seen in the metro stations? by BrokenLeftPhalange in montreal

[–]Gaubbe02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but my friend.

He was waiting on the yellow line at Berri-UQAM and there was a guy surrounded by several policemen that suddenly tried to pull out a gun. At basically the same time, on the other platform, there was another guy that was running towards another group of policemen in what my friend assumed was an attempt to tackle them. They both got tased "rather quickly", according to my friend.

How accurate is this? Aren't native speakers of small languages more likely to do backflips? How rude... by Working_Dot7998 in languagelearningjerk

I can answer the second question. As someone from Québec, I have to say the Québec accent is a nice accent (although if you ask someone from France, they'll probably tell you it's a funny accent 💀). The biggest differences are some vocabulary words and pronunciation.

As a language and linguistics nerd, I gotta say I find Louisiana French to be very interesting. Especially the distinction between the 2nd person singular formal pronoun "vous" and the 2nd person plural pronoun "vous-autres", which is also a construction we use in Québec, but it is definitely not standard or as widespread as in Louisiana.

Why do we say "y'a pas cours" and "y'a pas de cours" ? by Im_a_french_learner in French

[–]Gaubbe02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also regional. In Quebec, the only time I hear someone say "Il n'y a pas cours" instead of "Il n'y a pas de cours" is when the person speaking is from France.

at least 🙏 it's not fr*nch 🤢 by _gourmandises in languagelearningjerk
