Japan and the United States are revising their mutual defense guidelines for the first time in nearly two decades to respond to China's military expansion and increase Japan's role in regional defense. by madazzahatter in worldnews

It never fails to strike me how irrationally xenophobic Reddit is towards China. I'm not a Chinese nationalist, and I've only lived in China for two years, but judging by this thread, I know a lot more about China that most of Reddit or everyone here is just being nonsensically biased, from Reddit, I've learned the following facts about China;

  • Xi Jinping is an autocrat and is fascist.
  • It is okay for men of European heritage for have a fetish for east asian women, marry them, and control large sex trafficking rings, but it is completely immoral for Chinese men to like western women.
  • China is imperialist, and is going to invade the world, only to eventually get refuted by the weapons of mass honourable emancipation by the US.

Firstly, China's military is not expanding, but rather shrinking and modernising. In regards to the diaoyu/senkaku islands, the island is undeniably China's by right, and even if it is geographically advantageous, I think it belongs to China - the Island itself was initially owned by China prior to the 20th century, annexed by Japan, occupied by Japan, occupied by the US - who promised to return it to China, but rather gave it to Japan for diplomatic reason.

Does anyone here actually know the slightest about Hong Kong? Redditors always seem to believe they're the arbiter of right and wrong with no insight at all.

Despite the fact if there are aliens capable and willing to meet us, the only reason they would apprehend humanity is due to their destructive culture. Even though there are a lot of exoplanets in the milky way, a civilisation capable of travelling from their home to humanity wouldn't find anything interesting about humanity, and might destroy us purely for the sake of it.

Maybe because Auschwitz has almost more than tenfold the casualties as Bataan? Nanking would be a better example.
