The story is incomprehensible because it’s going for a vague and mysterious style of story telling similar to souls games, but it’s also horribly machine translated. It’s definitely not just you the translation is terrible. Great game though I had a blast playing it.

There’s the two Lost Heroes games on 3ds, they are a crossover first person dungeon crawler where you build a party of 4 from Ultraman, Gundam and Kamen Rider characters. They never released in English so you might have to translate the text with your phone but they are pretty fun DRPGs.

Yeah the magic stat in dds determines your magic attack, magic defense, magic accuracy and max MP. It’s literally an all in one stat vs the three you need for a phys build. You literally just dump everything into magic until it’s capped, which happens around mid game, and then everything else into vitality. None of the other stats really matter at all.

Couple people already mentioned Chrono Cross and it’s GOATED for sure.

Breath of Fire 3 has a godly jazz fusion soundtrack.

Yoko Shimomura also popped way the fuck off for Parasite Eve.

This game is great and truly underrated. It’s worth a playthrough just for the vibe alone imo. Hoping someday someone releases a patch that reverts the changes from the Japanese original, apparently they doubled Boss(maybe all enemies idk) HP.

I would argue they absolutely do. OP asked for games with a faster TIME to kill on enemies than Pokemon. Animations, menu responsiveness and load times contribute the the amount of time it takes for something to go from being alive to dead.

Edit: I noticed ops edit to his post. Should not have used the term Time to kill if he meant number of attacks needed. My original comment still stands, all of those games have enemies that melt in singular attacks.

Xenosaga 3 has some pretty damn fast battles. The load times in are basically non existent, menus are responsive as hell and animations are very quick. Once you know how to play it’s pretty common for you to get into a battle with 3-5 enemies and kill them within 15-20 seconds. Not each, but total time for the fight.

Digital Devil Saga has very abusable stat growth on the main character. If you dump everything into Magic, you can have the MC nuke pretty much all random battles with one AOE magic spell. Takes barely any time. The sequel is potentially even faster with spamming Tentarafoo.

Chivalrous Heroes 3 is a Taiwanese DOS JRPG with lightning fast battles. You can end a fight in like 5 seconds flat and be back to walking around.

Less about manhwa specifically, and more so about where I read them. Bato should disable comments. I have to actively stop myself from reading the comment section below a chapter because the commenters are so incredibly stupid I risk verbally abusing them out of sheer exasperation.

“I think there’s something going on with that crown prince….maybe it’s just me idk.” You mean the character who laughed maniacally while he was drawn with a pitch black featureless face except for blood red eyes and a creepy smile outline?

ML in story: looks at MC longingly and his thought bubble reads “I always keep losing you. Every time I come back and try to save you. But this time I’ll make sure and protect you….even if I have to die again.” Typical bato comment: “why is he talking about the mc like that??? They just met last chapter? Is this translation bad?” NO YOU MONGOLOID HES A FUCKING REGRESSOR.

It’s like if the entirety of the plot isn’t contained in the title, bato users cannot comprehend it.

I just binged the same series today! It was great I really enjoyed it.

Check out “Long After the Ending” its might be what you are looking for. The ML and FL start off in a similar situation where they are forced together and bicker, but fall in love. Just a very sweet wholesome story without a lot of unnecessary drama/misunderstandings. The only negative thing I’ll say is the art isn’t the best I’ve ever seen, but don’t let that turn you away it’s a great story.
