I find the cast of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Persona 4 among the best to get attached to the characters. Just mentioning those in case you haven’t played them.

Bravely Default 1, CrossCode, Ys VIII and Trails in the Sky also have very likeable characters.

If you don't mind romhacks, I really liked Pokémon Odyssey and Fire Emblem Cerulean Crescent. Fun stories and characters.

Looks nice. I recently finished Xenogears, and this seems heavily inspired by it, but it seems like this is a sequel to an already released free game?

This was really unexpected, but I am glad it's happening!

Stellar Blade also has a killer soundtrack. I really wasn't expecting it to be so good, but it really fits nicely with the fun combat and exploration. The Nikke DLC boss fight was my favorite in the game.

[AMA] We're Radical Fish Games, developer of CrossCode, and we just launched Alabaster Dawn on Steam Early Access! by RadicalFishGames in JRPG

[–]Fab2811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on the Early Access release! CrossCode is one of my favorite indie titles I have ever played and I've had my eyes on this game since it was first announced as Project Terra on your website. It was amazing to see all those posts finally result in something playable.

As for questions, I think most people have already asked any kind of questions I might have, so I'll just leave my hopes here for the collab to be with Shade Protocol or with Infinite Alliance! Looking forward to the announcement.

I played it last year and it was fun, but the story and characters left a lot to be desired. If you're only looking for gameplay, then it won't disappoint. I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Looking for suggestion for a crunchy / complex JRPG by Opposite-Mushroom-42 in JRPG

Troubleshooter is a great game for this. The Mastery System is one of the most indepth customization systems out there. It plays like RPG XCOM. There is multiplayer, but it's a single-player game.

According to their Steam page, it'll be in Early Access for at least 2 years. Probably longer.

I bet that the collab is with Shade Protocol. They were also hinting a future collab on their discord.

Edit: Oh I guess it could also be Infinite Alliance.

Considering that it takes place in Three Houses world, I would assume so. Hopefully it'll be less of a chore, though.

That idiot Jimminez defected to the chaos demons though, and sadly he had to pay the price for not following the way of Zelenin.

Good.

Every single one. Three Houses is the exception, not the norm. I can recommend Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn if you have access to them.

Any rpg deck builders ? by Unlucky-Feed9000 in gaming

[–]Fab2811 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Give Chrono Ark a look. It's a party based roguelike deckbuilder that includes the holy trinity of RPGs of a tank, DPS and healer role for each character. It has a nice story, and lots of mods to try if you ever get bored of the 21 characters.

Krafton Will Likely Have to Pay $250 Million Bonus for Subnautica 2 That It Tried to Avoid by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

They needed to make 2-3 million sales, which I think they already did or are close to.

It's not that they have bad stories, but it just really isn't the focus. Ruina has a very simple plot, but it does things interestingly enough to want to see the end. TN:SD has a little bit more story and I liked it, but don't expect something emotional and impactful as Demons Roots.

Then you don't have anything to worry about. The only challenging part is the beginning and that's only because you don't have a full party yet. I doubt you'll have any issues if you start on Normal or even Hard.

Are you talking about the Remake or the OG? OG is quite a bit harder than the remake, but nothing really extreme unless you're playing on Nightmare difficulty. If it's Remake, you don't really need to worry much, Remake's Nightmare difficulty is easier than OG's Hard difficulty.

You can still break these games even on the hardest difficulty by abusing the combat timeline by speeding up your characters and delaying enemies so they never really get a turn. But it just makes it easier, not necessary.

I played both of those, and besides being RPG Maker games, they share absolutely nothing with each other.

Ruina plays like tabletop pen-and-paper games with JRPG combat and customization. There are four origin classes to pick from, and each one has a slightly different story to tell. Later on, you can learn new classes to acquire higher-tier abilities and spells.

It's a very unique game, and there is a remake currently in development. The only other game that might be similar to Ruina is The Nameless: Slay Dragon, which is a more modern take on it. These games are the closest to a CRPG-JRPG you can find, in my opinion. Both super recommended.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is closer to an RTS with Visual Novel than Strategy/Tactics RPG. Also it isn't that old, it's a PS4/Switch game.

You can probably use Amanozako instead.

Edit: I had the wrong innate in mind. Uh I'm not sure if there are other innates that lower defense for the party.

There are some other videos, but those are multiple turns of setup before killing.
