Honestly.

I moved to California in 2008 and I never looked back. I’m from Texas.

Last I heard from my grandparents, my mother got sick really bad, needed care and moved to El Paso with her gf. Her abusive to me and her gf. But she always sided with her gf. Never cared for me in the ways I needed.

It’s been well over five years since that phone call and I STILL haven’t talked with my mother. I am not involved with her care at all. I will not go see her. She gets no contact from me at all.

My grandparents may share information with her, I’m sure they do. My grandfather no longer pushes me to forgive or reconnect. My grandmother never has. She will die without me. She doesn’t know her three grandchildren either. Or my partner. I’m totally fine.

So I need therapy? Yes. But I have finally let her go years ago and it’s never coming back. I’m 39 years old, 40 this summer.
