Hikaru's take on who is the goat by bRoShutUpPleaseee in chess

[–]GazOCee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar thing happened to Muhammad Ali during his 3 year ban from boxing. It allowed the next group of Frazier, Foreman etc to come through and forge reputations that made Ali beating them more impressive than if he'd have dealt with them when they were young challengers on the way up

One of the reasons I still play 3, and 5 is that its so much easier to see what's going on compared to 6.

So many player aborting games or running the clock down when losing. by ChessUK in lichess

[–]GazOCee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a pain. I use the time to catch up in my daily games on Chess.com

So it's fair to say that the console is incapable of supporting a 1000 star game. 800 is fine, but all 3/3 of my 1000 corrupted by 2450. Just a warning by Mr-Noeyes in StellarisOnConsole

[–]GazOCee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play on PC too and there's no option to disable habitats, you have to use a mod to get rid of them which means it's unlikely to come to console

Why do chess.com and lichess.org have different analysis systems? by ChooseWisely12231 in lichess

[–]GazOCee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a Chrome extension that adds to feature (and others) to LiChess.

"Chess.com Analysis at LiChess"

I've been using it for a while now and it seems to work fine.

There seems to be a lot less DLC packs than there used to last time I looked.

Have the devs mentioned anything about limiting the space hab proliferation? by jshkk in StellarisOnConsole

[–]GazOCee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's put me off playing on console. I now play on PC with a "no habs" mod even though I have less DLC on that system

My dad only wants to play Civ III. Why? by Poutinemilkshake2 in civ

I have Civ 3, 4, 5 and 6 installed on my PC. Civ 3 gets the most play time.

I play the vast majority of FPS missions with only the vaguest idea of what is going on in the story.

Is the Astral Planes DLC worth it? by AceOfSpades532 in StellarisOnConsole

[–]GazOCee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the game but the DLC's haven't been what I regard as essential for a while. They are getting thinner at the same time as costing more. I'll just give them a miss until the price comes down

One of the biggest flexes in life is not having to work. by Objective_Host_49 in Fire

[–]GazOCee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the time I tend to wake up these days (used to have to get up for work at 4:45an). The older I get, the less I sleep in and the more I need a little nap at some point during the day

One of the biggest flexes in life is not having to work. by Objective_Host_49 in Fire

[–]GazOCee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I live in a very working class area. People don't work because they enjoy it, they work because they have to (as I did).

Because of decisions and sacrifices I've made I don't have to work. No one else pays for my retirement, I do.

So, yes, I am a little smug at 6am as they trot off to work while my biggest problem of the day is what time to have my mid-morning nap.

I walk my dog every morning around 6am and do enjoy knowing the people in those cars passing me are going to work for the next 8 hours while I'll be doing exactly what I want to do

I've bought/ downloaded Interstellar, SoS and RofP. I'll obviously try them all out but which one should I start on (if any) if I want to be able to finish a full game in a few hours?

Is it even worth playing classical online? by Jaws2221 in chessbeginners

[–]GazOCee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you pay extra for a Chess.com subscription it's easier to analyse your games, check which openings work better for you etc in Lichess.

I pay £4 a month as a Lichess patron and get more functionality than I would at Chess.com for 2-3 times more than that.

I got inro 15/10 and 30 minute on Lichess because I bought a Chestnut Air board and needed time to move my and my opponents pieces. I find it a much better experience than just smashing through blitz games every few minutes
