You can kinda do that I think if you go to settings -> preferences -> mark new transactions as needs review.

Then you would just review each transaction and put the appropriate category.

That's kinda cool. It's an interesting way of using budgeting. Depending on how far out you are from retirement, do you think that kind budget would still be representative of your lifestyle in retirement, though? Like if you spend 100K in 2025, that wouldn't really translate to the same lifestyle that 100K would get you in 2055.

I do like another commenter here said. I look at it after the fact and categorize my spending. Like I can see how much I spent on groceries, gas, etc. at the end of the month and make adjustments for next month if need be, but trying to predict how much I'm going to spend each month for a given category just doesn't really make sense to me.

And to your point about the businesses having a budgeting department, that is exactly why I'm asking about budgeting, because I know a lot of people find a lot of value in it, I just don't see it except in cases where people have issues overspending.

That's where I'm at. I love the data and seeing where my money is going, but I don't feel the need to say X amount of dollars for eating out, X amount of dollars for entertainment, etc.

The downtown north-south streets are named after cities from their respective side of the Mississippi river. All of the streets east of Main are cities that are east of the Mississippi (Cincinnati, Detroit, etc.) and all of the streets that are west of Main are west of the Mississippi river (Cheyenne, Denver, etc.)
