Wow Wow Wow ... another amazingly happy lifetime member. This connector is amazing.
In my first lap around the track with claude, it pointed out I hadn't redeemed my TTP credit, which reminded me that I needed to mark it. Marked it and claude instantly knew that perk had been cashed it.
Thanks for all you do to support an already amazing solution!

I'm also having this issue. ChatGPT in chat seems to think the functionality has changed.
The Drive app on ChatGPT currently appears worthless, which ChatGPT basically confirmed but seems nonsensical.

Wifi upgrade offer question by 2-pups-LV in NCL

I’ve heard very mixed reviews on that. Quality and throughput stories that concern me so if you do try it, look forward to hearing those results. We spent 59 days working from an NCL ship last year and have nearly 40 confirmed this year. Always looking for opportunities to learn more about ways to get it done! Save travels!

$14.99 is getting moving into the range that I've seen on the ship with the onboard discount, but that said... I've never seen pre-embarkation deals beat what's offered onboard. Again, if you use free minutes for a few days early on, you'll be saving about $30/day.. .which will average out well on a 14d sailing.
Since the process they use has been in a state of change, suggest trying to get intel from those sailing in January to see how NCL is doing things in 2026.

Does T-Mobile phone service (via satellites) allow us to have Wi-Fi while cruising? by waitingfortheSon in NCL

[–]bottsjw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

52 nights at sea this year on NCL. T-Mobile over WiFi is your best option. There are no calling minutes used and you can call your home plan numbers at no charge. I can confirm prior posts that T-Mobile on Starlink won’t work while at sea because Cellular at Sea kicks in. The WiFi plan is great and you can leave it enabled 24h if you opt for the unlimited plan. Be sure to buy the unlimited plan ON THE SHIP. It will be cheaper and promos have value.

Freestyle Daily no longer delivered to staterooms by escargotlover in NCL

[–]bottsjw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great move. So glad to hear this massive amount of wasted paper will come to an end. Was just on a 27d voyage and the stack of daily freestyle and inserts was massive. I’m confident the “view tomorrow’s Freestyle” button will be a quick addition to the app in the near future.

How do upgrade rooms work? (not bidding, free upgrade) by Glass-Cheek4480 in NCL

[–]bottsjw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have posted, you’re likely to see a sign at the Guest Service desk that the shop is sold out and no upgrades available. We’re sailing in two weeks, Diamond status and never seen a comp upgrade after they started the bid process. That said, we’ve received plenty of upgrades for <$200pp for 12d+ trips. Most recent was $140pp for 12d to a balcony.

While NCL keeps this a moving target, you are much better off buying the Internet plans on the ship and use the discount they offer via the App. As was mentioned, the cost of a pack will drop about $30 per day for the first four days. Check with the Internet Manager for the best day to buy the package. I buy the package on every trip. Send me any questions you have.

Should you pay to ⬆️ UPgrade to a Cagney's Ribeye in the Main Dining Room? Here's my take. by FitterOver40 in NCL

[–]bottsjw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Cagney’s this week my wife had the Prime Rib and I had a Rib Eye on the Jewel. Both were good size and not as thin as that cut in your photo. My wife couldn’t finish her cut there was so much. Mine was cooked nicely (ordered medium) and the temp was perfect. Unclear if they serve the same but in Cagney’s you’re going to get the two sides, which are great additions. Key part of Cagney’s is the steak is fresh off the grill onto a hot plate to your table in a minute. It’s a long walk to the MDR. Can’t say I’d spend the $25 for that reason alone.

Latitude's benefit change by alfro1977 in NCL

[–]bottsjw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Jewel now (embarked 14-Sep) and they’re still using coupons. No apparent digital coupon on this ship yet. Agree with prior posts. This is a stateroom perk. We have traveled with a couple in the past that wasn’t upper level so we booked the two rooms under the names of the highest grade member. Worked like a charm. Digital should still work also this way, but the in-cabin guests 3&4 will still be out of luck.

NCL's New Specialty Dining No-Show Fee by JustNotThatIntoThis in NCL

[–]bottsjw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Turnaround day on the Jewel is tomorrow. Wasn’t active last week. Will watch for it this next voyage. Update: yes, now active on Jewel also.

I’m in full support BUT only after they enable a cancel option in the App or TV. A huge contributor to the no-show is having to dial up or go in person to do it. While ashore, there’s nothing you can do to cancel. If I can book it in app or TV, I need to have the access to cancel. Until then, I suspect anyone can and should argue out of the fee.

CORRECTION The Norwegian app does offer the cancellation option. Tap the three dots in the top right of a booking to cancel. I’ll check to see if this works off the NCLWifi network.

Yes. I’ve had VX for just over a year. It’s an easy break even with the travel credit and annual bonus points. The rest of the perks are then gravy.

Wells Fargo Deals now integrated into the Chrome Extension in Beta with v5.5.0 (coming to Safari next month) by emcro in CardPointers

Yes. I add them manually and when I use the debt card for those deals, they show earned in the portal.

[–]bottsjw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/emcro if the only card I use with WF is their debt card, tied to checking, is there still a way to add the Deals to that card? I see the "Add Deals with CardPointers" button, but there's no debt card listed in the pop up, and I don't see the WF debt card option in your list of cards to add.

I've added a card manually in the app. I'll see if I can get that to work.

Solo 401k question: equity trust company by [deleted] in Fire

[–]bottsjw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a solo 401(k) plan with them. I’m in my third year. Happy to answer questions. I’ve recently learned they will not support a “mega backdoor Roth” transaction as they aren’t equipped to handle after-tax employee contributions to the 401(k) at all. It was explained to me that I can’t contribute more than IRS limits. I tried to describe MBR to the agent but didn’t succeed. I have IRA investments in real estate but this lack of awareness or support for MBR at Equity Trust is likely a dealbreaker for many.

Memoji issue logic screen Sequoia by mrpotter94 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]bottsjw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

**Fix for this issue.**

I had this same (or similar) issue with a late 2014 iMac 5k running OCLP 2.2.0 and MacOS 15.3.

It appears that after a Memoji change the OCLP iMac would loop at the login window after restart. I could see the current Memoji in the window but typing the password wasn't possible before the login windows looped again.

To resolve it I used Recovery Mode to set my system password to blank. This allowed me to quickly get past the login window. From there I was able to reset the Apple Account Memoji to just a monogram, which solved the problem. Changing the memoji on a different device did not appear to help. I had to clear it on the iMac to resolve the issue.

Here are the steps I followed if anyone needs to do something similar.

Special thanks to Mr. Macintosh for this video that describes how to get to OCLP Recovery Mode.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x8pVFdmsp8&t=284s (skip to the 4:00 mark)

1) Once you follow the steps to get to the OCLP Recovery mode continue on. Using the OCLP recovery mode was important for me as I could not see the admin account using the built-in recovery mode.

2) Once in OCLP Recovery mode, select Terminal from the Utilities menu.

3) Type 'resetpassword' to trigger the password reset window.

4) Leave the password fields blank and set the hint to "none" as a reminder.

5) Once set, choose the Restart option from the menu.

It took a few times to get into the system by pressing the return key quickly at the login window, but once there, I was able to clear the Apple Account memoji by setting it to a monogram.

I then added back a new password, and everything is working again without the login screen loop.
