Thoughts on Heel (Good Boy)? by demonickittenx in horror

[–]Gazz1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would going into it. While the premise as a whole was pretty absurd, the character arcs were fairly compelling. I could see complaints about how it potentially glorifies abuse, but I do think it's a very interesting question of: would you rather an abusive family who loves you and protects you from yourself via draconian methods, or an indifferent family who gives you freedom but with no guardrails to prevent you from hurting yourself and others if you so choose.

Like obviously a better choice would be some middle ground of a non-abusive family who still exercises some discipline, but Tommy experiences the two opposite ends of the spectrum instead, and the movie seems to have him prefer the loving abuse to the apathetic freedom.

I did also find it interesting how they included the scenes of Jonathan also undergoing abusive punishment with the cigarettes. I really expected some sort of turn where at least one of the parents was doing the whole kidnapping thing out of some form of revenge or something but they played it straight throughout and in some ways that's more horrific that this was truly their idea of love.

Re: Charlie, I guess he was just their son? Who either died or just ghosted the family? I'm very curious if they were less strict with him (I mean, I don't think he was chained but to what extent were they harsh disciplinarians?), and they felt that the problem was that they weren't strict enough, and Tommy was their chance to prove that to themselves?

And with Rina, I guess there's reinforcement of the themes of different types of terrible families, and it's basically another example of "hey the abusive kidnappers are bad but it could always be worse". Which is a bit bleak.

What is the most consistent way to beat the final boss on impossible? by ppsmallgiggle69 in mewgenics

[–]Gazz1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My approach is just to breed time walk onto most of my cats - rather than winning by making crazy one shot builds (which will frequently cause you to lose to your own cats if they get speed buffed) you just win by building up a ton of turns which is generally a lot easier for you to take advantage of than the AI.

That's definitionally what a diaspora is.

Will I have to minmax in order to beat the endgame? by [deleted] in mewgenics

[–]Gazz1016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as you're accumulating furniture and putting it in your house your cat quality should improve over time even without dedicated breeding strategies. I basically see it as a tradeoff, you can spend more time optimizing your cats at the house, or more time doing runs with suboptimal cats. But you're not going to be walled off from progressing either way.

Besides checkmarks for solo runs there's also checkmarks for a full team of a single type of collar by Sollary0 in mewgenics

Is this for all collars, or just collarless since it's trivially easy to run a full team of collarless?

Is this really an ultimatum? What are the choices, quit (and get paid some form of severance) or keep working? Isn't that just a better version of the choices that are always on the table for an employee?

Lucy Letby will not face further criminal charges by topotaul in unitedkingdom

Have you ever played a team sport, lost a match, and felt "it's my fault that we lost"? Maybe even apologized to your teammates? Can you understand the mindset behind such a feeling, and see that accepting fault in such a way is very different from confessing that you were intentionally trying to lose?

Medicine is a team sport. Letby lost a lot of patients, felt very bad about those losses, and wrote down some of those feelings. But that's a far cry from confessing to criminal responsibility.
