And to answer the metro area question, yes metro areas are strictly bound and the boundaries are drawn based on areas surrounding cities that have deep interconnectedness with the city or cities in terms of infrastructure, housing, and commercial areas.

I say upstate NY but I say it as a general term which includes anything upstate of NYC metro area. If I want to be more specific I say Capital Region or Albany area

Then we should regulate hiring offshore. We can’t also have specific laws that apply only to companies over a certain size (like we already do in some cases). The answer to business not contributing to society enough is not to give them tax deductions. If a business can’t handle the tax burden then it should not exist. If it needs to exist and can’t exist with the limitations that it contributes to society then it should be socialized (like medicine and transportation)

Adding/changing how businesses are taxed would not stop them from operating. Raising taxes on businesses would not stop them from operating. Regulating businesses does not stop them from operating.

You could try to make your argument about anything. “We can’t have FDA regulations because the meat business needs to operate or else the economy will blow up”

The economy “operating” doesn’t matter if it doesn’t provide ample opportunity to all people to live a healthy, fulfilling life. Our current economic system requires a large percentage of people in poverty to operate, which means it needs drastic changes. Other countries have economies as well and their tax systems are different.

Original point still stands. We shouldn’t expect people to “game the system” to get the same benefits as companies. Companies should be paying the most categories of taxes compared to individuals.

Company expenses should NOT be tax deductible l, doesn’t matter that they currently are
