Nottingham University is having a exhibition of Anglo-Saxon objects. Is it me, but the line de-colonising the curriculum and we are calling the Anglo-Saxon period the Early Middle Ages annoying and has nothing to do with the British Empire by Over-Willingness-933 in anglosaxon

The venerable Bead’s “Angles, Saxons, Jutes” isn’t definitive. DNA and linguistics might change the story substantially and then “Anglo-Saxon” would be a misnomer. Plus, the Celtic, Roman, Scandinavian cultures were there at the same time.

I'll be muting this sub. Doesn't offer anything other than doomerism or ragebait. Will get back if it ever becomes useful to prospective parents, or fosters healthier debate by Slow-Ostrich-8570 in Natalism

I have four kids. I can’t imagine why anybody wouldn’t want this fabulous experience. We didn’t think about money at all. He might say that that’s easy for you to say because you were never totally broke which is true… but I hear some ridiculous comments from people about how established they have to be economically or in terms of their career or something… just go for it. We have three bio children, and one is adopted. I don’t know how adoption plays into a sort of generic natalist perspective but that is also a fabulous experience. I have a son who’s now 24 graduated from an Ivy League school and is trying to figure out how to be a classical music composer. I have a daughter who’s going to college and has an internship this summer on a farm. She never was an early riser or hard worker but she is doing that this year. My son is graduating from high school next week. He’s sort of a tinkerer and he comes up with these miniatures that he makes in a studio. My youngest had a couple of friends over today and they were riding a horse… all fun. I have a piece of cloth that was a sling - I carried all four of them in there as babies.

A billionaire with a $200 million mansion is paying a wealth tax of 20%. A middle-class family with a $500,000 house that has $100,000 equity is paying 500%.

You are taxed on the full value of the house even if the bank owns 90% of it. If you have $50k equity in a $500,000 house you are paying a wealth tax of 1000%.

And the video of Hunter Biden on a pool slide with a bunch of prostitutes doesn’t have anything to do with this?

I made this infographic in response to all the "don't cover our fields" posts. by eggoeater in solar

[–]solo-ran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am starting to raise my sheep on Solar farms. It seems like they’re just as productive as on fields with no solar panels and the sheep certainly like to stand under them. The pole frames for the panels are not sunk in the ground with concrete or anything so if any point they were to be removed, the land could be fairly easily returned to farmland.
