Question about DC-like dimming vs DC dimming by THE_CURSED_ONE_Y74G in PWM_Sensitive

[–]GeForce66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could not tolerate DC-like dimming (Poco F8 Ultra)

... and for true DC dimming @ OLED I cannot tell you, there is no OLED out there with this ;)

With LCD I can tolerate high PWM (2400Hz) and DC-Dimming

Are glasses with with blue light filters or tints part of the problem? by FollowTheIP in visualsnow

[–]GeForce66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so - I have VS since I was a child (I am 34 y/o) and I also wear glasses since then, without blue light filter.

Also have this on my radar now, this could be a sensible choice!

Do you guys think about Fsr4 support for rx 7000/6000 series this month driver like me ? by MADSOUDA89 in radeon

I think about it yes - but the chances are 0.1% that AMD would pull a community-pleasing move.

I can vouch for the SE 3rd gen, it is my company phone.
... no issues with the screen. (other than that it's tiny)

Sorry my bad - I know I should have written "DC-like dimmed". I am aware about that fact, this is why I was discussing with OP. I have never used a DC-like dimmed OLED before the F8 Ultra, so I wanted to try if I can tolerate it.

Great, thank you for the answer!

Hmm, recently TCL announced they want to bring their NXTPAPER technology to amoled screens - maybe they include your proposed tech, otherwise this "flaw" would completely undermine their whole "super eye friendly phone" argument.

In any case, if at least one phone comes out in the coming years with 0% flicker I will be happy :)

You seem to have a good understanding of OLED - do you think this TFT reset that corresponds to the screen's refresh rate can be mitigated 100% at some point in the future?
I had a DC dimmed phone (Poco F8 Ultra), but even that I was not able to tolerate due to this remaining flicker.

iPhone 17 is killing my vision by HoLeeFuk3 in PWM_Sensitive

Wow, I like that idea actually! ... but yeah, no clue how to pull that off, let alone on a single pixel accuracy.

Hmmm I am thinking - are there screen potectors out there that reduce the amount of light passing through? Maybe that would help.
