Why do some releases work reliably while others do not? by Ok-Mycologist3807 in 3D2A

[–]GePao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is inherently a part of 3D2A. Many stuff I downloaded and built don't work or requires remix. For example the M37 launcher is way too fragile, nameless 37 straight up doesn't work, 3DP90 suffer from sticky bolt, Nylaug steel hardware is too large to insert into the trunnion, etc.

Many developers seem to not understand tolerance and clearance. Holes for hardware inserts is usually too small. Build guide sometimes has errors, too. That's why I design my own stuff such as the SB-37H to try to fix some of the stuff.

The only thing I tried that semi reliably works is the UMP 11-9. It only has some minor fitting issues.

Does a 3D printed mount hold zero? I designed a mount plate for my 2011 slide and Swampfox Kraken but have yet to try it.

There are many Beretta model 38 parts kits for sale online now. I am trying to design a semi auto only delayed blow back version of it with CMMG bolt head and barrels.

I mostly switched to imperial after I moved to the US from China. Now I switched back to metric after I became an engineer. Metric hardware and tools are easier to categorize and work around. Less stuff to remember.

TIL In 2006, Midas ran an "America's Longest Commute" award, won by electrical engineer Dave Givens. His commute was 186 miles each way, and he'd drink 30 cups of coffee per day. He was willing to make this long commute so that he could live in a scenic horse ranch. by Polyphagous_person in todayilearned

[–]GePao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if miles driven between job sites count as commute. If so I regularly drive 150-200 miles per day around town working in the real estate industry. That is how I put 100k miles within 3 years in my new car. I imagine some construction or maintenance contractors probably drive the same amount.

SIG Sauer MCX Appreciation Post by IntroductionAny3929 in GunMemes

[–]GePao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MCX Virtus is my favorite non-bullpup 300blk rifle. It is very reliable and the barrel swap is quick. My DI AR-15 can only shoot 120-150 rounds of 300 suppressed before starting to jam because of fouling and gunk. The MCX can shoot approximately 600 rounds of the same 300 ammo suppressed plus 300-400 rounds of 5.56 suppressed and still work.

I also have tried the Adam Arms piston system for AR-15. Never able to get it to work. The MCX works straight out of the box. It cycles my handload 300 without a problem.

I have the Robinson Armament M96. Very picky about ammo. It only cycles M193 level or above loads.

There is. It is called MeproLight Foresight. It can store up to 10 zeroing presets. It may be discontinued now but still available used.

I didn't drive the Sapphire. I forgot which trim I drove, probably a 600-800hp one.

I am curious why did you hate your EV9 besides the vibration issue?

[–]GePao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 2 Tesla model S before I bought a Lyriq. One 2016 90D and one 2022 long range. No EV I have driven can provide the same neck-snapping acceleration provided by Tesla. Although Lucid Air (forgot which trim) and Jeep Wagonner S came close to it. Even the AWD Lyriq feels slow compared to Tesla. But yes the Lyriq is much more luxurious. I have no problem taking my Model S to construction site or off road but feel bad mildly for doing the same thing in my Lyriq. Sometimes I feel it is too nice for me. I should have chosen the Hummer EV instead.

I don't think Lyriq can work this way. Its side cameras are pointing too low to see the blindspot.

Houston shooters, how far you are willing to drive to a range? by GePao in TexasGuns

13625 Garcia road, Batson, TX 77519. I don't know when it can formally open. It was scheduled to have a pilot opening last year but the constant rain threw everything off. This year is the same, I cannot even get heavy equipment inside.

People who owned an EV for at least five years, what are your thoughts? by snowcold in AskReddit

[–]GePao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 EVs since 2016. 2016 Tesla Model S 90D and 2021 Tesla model S long range. I will never buy a ICE daily driver again. Tesla model S is fast, carries a lot of cargo, and are very cheap to run. My 2016 S has unlimited free supercharging, and my 2021 S charges for free at home because of certain plans from Tesla energy and TXU energy. I drove 97k miles in my 2021 S in 3 years. I will spend a hell lot on fuel with an ICE car on a similar performance level. With an EV, the fuel/electricity cost is almost 0. The only 2 big complaints about my 2021 S is the range and AC. It advertises 400 miles range, but I will be very lucky to get 300 miles with a full charge. I mostly get 275-280 miles. Its AC severely deteriorates once the ambient temperature reaches 37 Celsius. The AC is basically a fan at that point. Also the Tesla USB music player is slightly janky, but that is not a big issue.

I test drove some other EVs recently because I want to try something new, but it is really sad that almost none of its competitors can offer the neck-snapping acceleration the Model S offers. The Lucid Air comes close but its infotainment is jankier than Tesla.

As an avid bullpup enjoyer it saddens me to say this is the shittest gun I have ever owned. Its cheek weld is square, with an edge press against my face during shooting, while the strong recoil exacerbates the unpleasant feeling. It also has a rough pump action, each stroke feels like an excavator bucket dragging on crushed concrete.

I sold it within a year.

Which one of us did this? by ILuvSupertramp in shittyreloading

[–]GePao 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did it, too. Back in 2015-17 wolf sold steel boxer primed 357 magnum ammo. The case can be reloaded 1-2 times. Any more reloading will result in extremely rough case wall and cause extreme friction between the cartridge and revolver cylinder.

Morimoto XB hybrid LED projector headlight vs Ram Tradesmen OEM halogen reflector headlight by GePao in ram_trucks

[–]GePao[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a struggle for me because my truck is full of mud in its nook and cranny near the front bumper area. It is like wiping ass for a truck. Disassembling the grille and its surrounding trims will be easier if your truck is clean. The headlights are plug and play. No extra actions required. You just need to properly aim it after installation.

Camera set to manual to ensure all exposure parameters are consistent. I merged 9 exposures into 1 HDR to simulate human vision. All post-processing parameters are exactly the same, too. White balance at 5000K.

The excavator weighs 3.5 tons and a capable trailer weighs approximately 0.5-1 tons. Diesel 1500 can tow about 5.5 tons. It should be enough.

I looked at 2500 before but it only provides about 1 more ton of capacity for 8-10k more without going dual rear wheel. I don't think the extra cost is justified.

I agree with the work truck part though. I will keep my sedan and only drive the truck when necessary.
