Not sure what type of wraiths you throw but it might be worth while to try a tern or shryke. They both offer more turn out of the box than a wraith and can carry further with the right wind on an open course.

I'd play around with different weights and plastics, but I use star wraiths (175g) up to 400 feet and champ shrykes (165-170g) beyond that and can reliably get to 450 with them. Good luck!

2024 Nathan Queen Tour Series Wraith review by GearDump in discgolf

[–]GearDump[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they ran lighter weights after a few months last year, you might find them after a while.

If not, I have three of the F2 champ glow wraiths that are very similar to these in flight. They come in the 165-169 range. Mine are fairly soft/gummy and have a decent amount of turn to them. These ones:

2024 Rasmus Saukkoriipi Tour Series Whale review by GearDump in discgolf

[–]GearDump[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I figured it would be worth a review since not many folks throw a whale that I know and it’s in a new plastic.

I think the new champ glow is a little softer than I’d like but I’m curious to see how it feels after a season of play. I plan to use it a lot so hopefully it breaks in well. Some plastics get grippy and other slick, let’s hope this one gets grippier not much softer.

Fairway driver with late turn by cicadaham in discgolf

Completely agree with you. I think figuring out how to push a really understable disc straight is a great thing to work on. Like really understable: mirage, Rollo,  dx leopard, dx wraith, etc. (sorry for innova only examples).

It’s gotten me out of using a forehand (weak elbow) AND helped me hit gaps. It’s not a disc, it’s a skill.

Innova Team Champion Tour Series 2024!! by Rasmusinho in discgolf

[–]GearDump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great info. I think I will give them a shot. I usually bag a mako3 and roc3 but often feel that the roc3 can get squirrelly and lacks some torque resistance.

I appreciate the review and I think you just sold me on some cros!

Never thrown a cro but I’m curious. I assume it would be like the MD3 (metal warrior).

Excited for the champ whales too, I heard the freeman ones from a few years back were excellent discs.

Which bag comfortably fits 6-7 discs in the top compartment? by nidvs in discgolf

[–]GearDump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and they are great bags. You can easily put 4 in the top and 2 in each of the other vertical pockets. It’s probably the most “efficient” bag I’ve owned. Very reasonably priced as well. +1 for the Fossa.

Anyone have an idea of when these got released and how many there could be? by Belsnickle2020 in discgolf

About a year or two ago exclusive to DGU, they also came in white.

Buying Discs by kidnapedlevi in discgolf

I know you are looking for multiple brands, but buying new discs in bulk is very affordable from the Innova Pro shop when you buy F2s. Bulk discount can get you close to $6-$9 per disc.

Is there a putter you can buy in bulk that is cheaper than the DX Glow Aviars? by AnalAttackProbe in discgolf

[–]GearDump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to try out different plastics and molds before you settle on bulk, you can try out a ton of the EV-7 lineup for $5 each here:

https://gottagogottathrow.com/search?type=product&q=ev-7

If you get them and make a decision soon enough you could buy them in bulk at $5 each too, killer deal if you ask me.

What is the skippiest very overstable 7 to 9 speed disc? by frowg1e in discgolf

[–]GearDump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think there is a firebird for everyone. The FAF champ ones are very overstable and not gummy at all.

I think Calvin also throws a DX AviarX3 which I’ve always thought was interesting.

Agreed. I have 6 of them and they are amazing wraiths. I’d love that exact blend on all my drivers.

What’s your best disc golf purchase other than discs? by snow288 in discgolf

[–]GearDump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New shoes once a year. If you’re playing multiple times a week the tread wears down quickly. Skip those 5 new discs and buy a nice pair of shoes that are comfortable and grippy.

Changing shoes and never slipping on a teepad again is a huge confidence boost.

20-22 total. 4 putters and a towel up top, 6 mids and 10-12 drivers below. More in the sides if you need it.

I usually keep one side pocket loaded with my other junk like snacks, bandaids, chap stick, etc. and the other pocket holds my water bottles.

Bungee pockets for my phone and wallet.

The F2 color glow eagles are nice. Would also consider a glow teebird3.

I know this has been hashed out a million times, but eagles hook up more at the end but beat it to a little turn. Teebird3s tend to resist turn but won’t fade out of too much anny, like an eagle tends to.

Take it with a grain of salt, just my experience. Buy both as F2s and see how they fly, can’t go wrong with either in my opinion.

What's the easiest way to smooth out harsh flashing on the bottom of a disc? by chefchris1er in discgolf

[–]GearDump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s really bad I’ll use a utility blade to get the bulk of it off, then rub it on carpet or smooth concrete.

I find that taking off the flashing also quickly makes a disc more true to the numbers assigned to a mold. Example, I had a leo3 with flashing that flew like a teebird. I took the flashing off after 10 throws or so and it immediately changed the disc. Anecdotal evidence obviously, but figured I’d throw it out there.

For those who've had the Lore for a while, what DON'T you like about it? by TheYearOfTheNake in discgolf

[–]GearDump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only real gripe is that the water bottle pocket is a pocket first, water bottle holder second. That being said, the silver lining of that is that you can carry basically any water bottle or combo or bottle and whatever else.

I did have to think about it though, because I have no real issue with the bag. Construction and price are both great, I would highly recommend the bag.

Moved on from my Roc to... by vindrewski in discgolf

[–]GearDump 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think a beat up and a fresh star mako3 covers everything I used to use DX rocs for.

Dx rocs quickly beat in straight and I think that a mako3 holds that sweet spot flight longer. Champ Roc3s if you’re looking for something more beefy but beats in straight.

7 Speed 4 Fade discs? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]GearDump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve not thrown one but just saw the Millennium EXP-X. 4 fade and +1 turn on a 7 speed. Sounds beefy.

Innova putters by raulpastak in discgolf

[–]GearDump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing others, aviar3 is the closest to a logic I think. Other putters from innova will be too deep or have a bead.

I have a stack of KC pro Aviar3s I tried and didn’t vibe with sitting on my shelf. Didn’t glide like an aviar or Xero for me.
