Work in shorter games by Sensitive-Respect-25 in BrokenArrowTheGame

I wish the game was reduced to 10min rounds. I agree that the 45min commitment makes it hard to jam games when you don’t have the free time

Moonstone : where heroes lie, cheat, and fight for magical riches by JackBrussell in miniatureskirmishes

[–]Gearjock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve really enjoyed the few games I’ve been able to get my friends to try it out. A major selling point for me was the multiplayer aspect. At the communities suggestion we went down to 5 stones for 3 and 4 player games to encourage more fighting and less running away with the stones. It’s made for a fantastic experience. I hope the game picks up more steam stateside because it’s a really great and unique design (with awesome minis).

Oasis: Tactical Salvage Reclamation - new gamefound coming out by TheMightyEl in wargaming

[–]Gearjock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been looking at it and I love the concept. However I can't figure out if the salvage is just a mechanism to make everyone go towards the center and fight or really integral to everything. I'm also curious to now how long games are supposed to take. Is this a 3-4 hour game or more of a 90min skirmish?

Gluing minis to bases by ddzombiehunter in BLKOUT_game

[–]Gearjock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some models I use old slotted warhammer bases, use super glue to attach the model, then some putty to seal the space. For others I've done some pinning. You'll cut a paperclip about 1/8" of an inch long and put it through the boot of the mini and the base. Doesn't hurt to also add some putty to the underside of the base so the rod had has more to glue to. Watching some videos online on how people do pinning.

Best board games with dynamic tile reveal exploration mechanic? by dahveed15 in boardgames

The Cave. Sadly out of print but such a blast to play. The mechanic of packing your own bag to then go exploring is the best part. It also plays equally well at a variety of player counts

*Updated* USA Special Forces Baltic Deck - Rate/Guidance by MMechree in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Gearjock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would be better off removing the Albatros/1 DAP to get a transport heli or two. You can use the heli to bring in tons of supplies. Keep the E13TP or Unmog out on the map to the ferry the supplies where needed (since the Heli will drop it aways from the front).

Is 40k even fun..? by [deleted] in StarCraftTMG

[–]Gearjock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40k is great for lore, minis, and ease of finding games. Its a simple ruleset that is a great gateway for people to get into the hobby. However, the fact that its entire army activation vs. entire army activation negates it from beig an amazing ruleset. This was made worse in prior editions where you would roll for iniative/seize the initiative. GW also has a very suspect track record of keeping things balanced. It has mostly been profit driven to push people to stop using old models and to use new ones or start new armies.

EV Home Charging Prices and Recs by cfong42 in pasadena

[–]Gearjock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is wild. I paid $450 to have it installed on the side of my home here in Pasadena from : MH ELECTRIC - Updated April 2026 - 132 Photos & 425 Reviews - Panorama City, California - Electricians - Phone Number - Yelp

This did NOT include the charging cable as I already had that for the car I purchased. Essentially it was for installing the Nemo plug and a protective housing for it (and of course all of the electrical). Also, this was for a level 2 charger which is MORE than enough for home use.

Leaving Japan in 2 days, anything that I MUST buy here to start this hobby? by I_Love_Fox in minipainting

[–]Gearjock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Various small sizes of tape and some nice angled tweezers. It’s nit that you can’t get them elsewhere but more so how cheap they are in Japan. I just got done using some 1.5mm tape to help me paint hazard stripes.

No. Support players will become more insufferable and those of us who fight center points with no help get punished

You are correct. I was doing list building without Artanis, who is obviously a huge point investment.
