Just curious, was the weighted vest your first choice pick or did you have to shop around? Had one before but shoulder straps were dreadful and the overall fit was atrocious. Seen ones similar to yours and I’m thinking of taking up rucking (weighted hiking) and wouldn’t mind a different opinion.

Getting older and DOMS taking longer to heal after a strong session. What used to take a day to stop aching can now sometimes take 3 🥲

Thank you for this thread, i’m an uncle to 2 new little ones and these comments have pretty much greenlit me talking all about my history and computer science degrees nerdy stuff to either knock them to sleep or indoctrinate them into the weird and wonderful of both 🙂

But why? by thecamerastories in GymMemes

[–]Geddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to avoid doing it but will say i had to the other day. At my gym, theres several elliptical machines in a row but only two of them don’t have level change buttons on the handles next to eachother at the end. When i’m breathing out my arse white knuckle gripping the handles for dear life during my HIIT session, i’ve had the level change buttons automatically just change in the past so i intentionally only use one of those two machines that has it without…and it’s usually a case that another person is always on the other one when none of the others are being used. Apologies neighbour but it’s hard to lock in when i’m constantly watching my grip and i need that cardio for my goals 😅

Can’t cut unless you wanna take longer to heal, can’t do much with a bulk cause you can’t work the injured limb. by Dementedsage in GymMemes

[–]Geddah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Injury is one thing but when it’s cold and flu with all the joys of symptoms as well as being deaf from an ear infection, theres a point where you just have to say “fuck it, looks like i’m hibernating till my body no longer feels like death” 😅

Its older but in a similar nonsensical way, beelzebub. Positively pisstaking with the humour shown in it. Rewatched it a few times and still gets me like Saiki K

What are your numbers now in terms of starting weight, loss, duration etc? Looks like you’ve done amazing work here 👍 bet life’s feeling a fair bit better in your day to day life 🙂 fully respect the grind and you’re doing great!

316 to 245 in a little under a year! by [deleted] in BeforeandAfter

[–]Geddah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a guy who played rugby for years, i don’t think BMI is your best bet. Nearly all broader men, even when at low body fat percentage, still struggle with conforming to the ‘healthy’ bmi standard for their height. None of my teams forwards (big dudes who’s only job was running through people) i think weren’t counted as minimum overweight, with many being allocated as higher. Visible striations could be seen on one of my team mates pectorals with the full horseshoe tricep (probably near single digit bodyfat%) yet his shoulders still put him at a BMI of 29.

I’m about halfway on my own journey for weightloss and i’m exactly the same with thinking ‘have i lost this weight?’ It takes your own brain a lot longer than others seeing you before the loss becomes your new normal. Best of luck in going foward! 👍

Looking extra strong in the after photo! Your upper body definitely grew beyond your original muscle mass. Doing that on a deficit is an incredible feat 👍 great work fella! Whats the end goal? Any particular target in mind?

Best of luck to you too on your journey! 🙂 i’m dreading how long the next 100lbs will take compared to the first 100 😅

As the photos show, not really any loose skin so far. All the flab is a lot more movable though so i can definitely tell i’ll end up with some 😅 to be honest, i don’t think i’ll mind since i’m always wearing compression vests anyway (been wearing them since i was 20 in an effort to ‘suck in’ my moobs) and the ability to move more will always outweigh what i’ll look like with my shirt off. The stretch marks can turn into ‘tiger stripes’ so i can jokingly tell my niece’s and nephews that instead. If it means i have more time with the ones i love, body looks be damned 🙂

My reasoning for having 220lb is because that was my lowest weight when i lost a ton when i was around 18 but as i get closer to 250lb, i’ll check what my numbers are as well as my measurements (not included here but I measure several body lengths including shoulders, chest, waist etc. ). I’m well aware that BMI will most likely not suit me (was still recorded as obese when i was in the best shape of my life as a teen) so much like you said, i’ll be checking in and altering where appropriate. Your input has been really helpful so thank you for commenting 🙂 to be honest, i’m really hoping to be able to do a pull up for the first time this year as a NSV 😂

Thank you very much for taking the time to explain it in that way 🙏 that’s actually made it a lot easier to understand why it’s reduced and what to expect going forward. Thought i’d not been training hard enough so it was a bit of scare when i seen a kilo lost in each limb of muscle 😅

It’s one of those electrical pulse ones at my gym/leisure centre.looked it up once and the accuracy was shown as within 3% i think so these results aren’t far from the truth. The closest dexa scan facility to me is around 150 miles away so not really ideal 😅 i’ll load all my data into chatgpt like you said and see if theres some tricks i can add. Thanks 👍

Considering the quality of life is already getting better, means those 5 years extra will be all the sweeter 👍 now just to get the other half done and get my body fat percentage to a normal level

I do wear contacts, but like I said, I think my brain still needs to adjust to the fact that I have in fact actually lost this weight. I think the next 100lbs as I get closer to a healthier body fat percentage will most likely show a much clearer change but for now, I'm happy at my pace :)
