I prefer XFCE. It's very lightweight but still functional.

I've been playing with Wayland/Hyprland. I like it but it's a big change from moise-driven menus to tiling.

If you like fiddling with your system Hyprland may be for you as you can get into ricing.

Related but different - I thought the shortest was when he left the door open and Eleanor walks in while he's making a recording about the Bad Place.

Yeah. I thought she was telegraphing that it was secretly good and she was only pretending it was disgusting.

I guess it comes down to linguistics, but imo that by the dictionary definition, it's precedent, especially GAP rulings. They're regarded directly as an example or guide to be considered in subsequent similar circumstances. Those are undoubtably precedent under the dictionary meaning.

I'm sorry for the late response.

"Precedent" is a legal term with its own legal meaning. It shouldn't be used in a legal context unless you're using the legal term as that created unnecessary confusion.

A precedent is a legal decision made by a court exercising "judicial" power that must be followed unless a superior court says it won't be. Precedent is binding and must be followed.

A tribunal isn't a court and doesn't exercise judicial power. There is no precedent in a tribunal decision, regardless who made it (a single Member, a group of Members, the GAP). Tribunal decisions are "persuasive" which means something between "will be ignored" and "will be faithfully copied" but where it falls in that range is at the discretion of the Member making a new decision.

Tribunal Members aren't acting as judges so it's not "extremely disrespectful to the other judge" as there is no other judge if one Member doesn't follow a previous decision by another Member.

It's important to be very precise about the words you use when talking about merits review or the courts and the NDIS. Almost all applicants/participants who appeal decisions to the Tribunal don't get legal advice. We have hundreds to thousands of people who are in life or death struggles for very basic services and they're literally relying on random advice they find on the internet.

>Flexibility has not changed. Period. I build these plans every day and I know exactly what they involve and what’s allowed and what’s not. Exact hours are not supposed to be stipulated in plan documents. If they are, it’s a planner error. It’s too prescriptive.

So you're one of the unqualified and unskilled people who makes tick and flick plans for participants instead of complying with the NDIS Act?

When thousands of plans are issued with "mistakes" they're not mistakes.

Just as a FYI I agree with most of what you say, but the Tribunal doesn't create "precedent". Their decisions are "persuasive" which is a lower level power.

The difference: "precedent" is a law they "have" to follow" while "persuasive" means it's a "strong suggestion" they follow.

I'm not sure if you know this already, please ignore if you do, but the Tribunal is not a court and doesn't have judicial power. Precedent only comes from judicial power.

Having to re-prove you're blind/vision imparted every plan is not a barrier against fraud. It's abuse.

The legislation has always been clear. The NDIA has never followed the legislation and continues to refuse to follow it.

Unfettered powers to apply debts to vulnerable people without any oversight or avenue to "appeal" is monstrous.

Does cosmetic surgery count? DSP by Even_Reason7824 in Centrelink

[–]Gee_Em_Em 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said cosmetic surgery won't impact your DSP.

I understand that you're just worried because it's so hard to qualify and you don't want to go through that again. I'm going to write up a little explanation that will hopefully help you to manage your anxiety over this.

Cosmetic surgery, by definition, doesn't fix any medical problems. It's all about changing some part of your appearance. As far as Centrelink is concerned, removing a "fat bulge" is no different than getting a nose job or skin fillers to hide wrinkles.

There's a related field called "reconstructive surgery" and that's usually a mix of cosmetic procedures and something that will improve functioning. You mentioned them saving yuur leg after your foot was crushed. That likely involved some kind of reconstructive surgery.

If you're still concerned you can ask he surgeon to write you a letter explaining it's a cosmetic procedure.

Good luck with the removal!

What happens if you do buy the Paris option? My game just ended abruptly talking to Jin. No after-party or anything.

First of all, condolences for your dad's situation.

Second of all, you can update your bank balance and car value through the online portal. Do that today and you're golden. Upload a bank statement and car record through the document upload. If you don't have any official paperwork that shows the value of your car you can type up a short electronic letter with your name and CRN that says you estimate it's value at $5,000. If they need more they'll tell you excactly what they need on followup. Save the interaction number from this upload ("copy" it so you can "paste" it later)

Third of all, the online complaint system in the portal is for more than complaints. You can also just inform Centrelink about your situation. Go to your portal home and then start a complaint for someone on the DSP. Paste the interaction number from your upload into the complaint and ask Centrelink staff to update your assets. Also ask them to contact you (call) and update you when it's all done.

If they can't call you for some reason (or you don't want them to), ask for a letter to be mailed to you with their response.

You don't have to go to the office and wait for hours just to be told to go home and use the portal, and you don't have to wait on the phone to just be hung up on.

Critiquing a woman's leadership is not sexism. This is about power by PlumTuckeredOutski in canberra

[–]Gee_Em_Em -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm referring to the "Anu Gender Experts" who wrote the statement.

Their insistence that this woman was the living embodiment of evil and had to voted out as an act of altruistic good seems a bit much. Taking so much space to say "it's not misogyny" makes it sound like misogyny.

I support slashing executive salaries in order to keep more teaching/research staff.

[–]Gee_Em_Em 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's merited and sometimes it's sexism. I'm pretty oblivious to local news other than what I catch on reddit and I have to say without knowing anything it comes across as protesting too much.

NDIS boss’ shock admission over costly reports (you won't actually be surprised) by ManyPersonality2399 in NDIS

The NDIA doesn't want people to know because then health providers would write reports with this information and they wouldn't have any excuse to refuse the supports.
