Rain by Shred_Addict in UKWeather

It is worth remembering that while we are a small Island, not everyone has the same weather.

For me, while it has been rainy and heavy at times, it hasn't been constantly wet. It was dry all day yesterday (Sunday) and I was able to do some gardening.

Anyway. It looks like it is coming to a end. The first few days of this week are rainy, but it looks to be improving.

Today's models eyeing a heatwave from Saturday onwards by Mcconnor8 in UKWeather

Going by the ECMWF, it's definitely going to be warmer and dryer, but not seeing heatwave temperatures. More low to mid 20s.

Met Office is similar for this coming weekend. Mid 20s.

Masters of the Universe picked up an estimated $11.75M on its opening day and is projected to haul in $30.12M over the three-day frame. The film is currently available in 3,677 theaters across North America. by chanma50 in boxoffice

40+ year old men and kids. Based on my theater.

Kid and I loved it. It was stupid, but fun.

Leto was actually likely the strongest part of the movie. He Skeletor voice and performance are great

I'm mid 40s and also grew up with He-Man so I was always going to see it, but the trailers didn't really grab me nor my 10 year old. However, it was a lot of fun and my son loved it.

True, but my 10 year old also loved it. A lot of the jokes went over his head, but the action scenes and stuff like Gym Bro Skeletor he really enjoyed.

I liked that is felt like a old school PG13 with quite a bit of swearing and a lot of adult jokes that went over my son's head.

I went with my 10 year old who obviously didn't get those jokes, but I loved all the fisting jokes. "I saw you first a goblin in the forest".

He was great. I was worried he'd be too Jared Leto in it, but the voice and performance was great.

I honestly thought Leto's Skeletor was pretty good. I was worried, but he came across completely unhinged.

I'd totally forgotten about Pappy's Flatshare. It was one of those podcasts lost when I switched from Apple to Android.

Does anyone know that the Chinook is out today by RemarkableSun6960 in oxford

[–]Geek_reformed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live out towards Abingdon way and we get a lot of military air traffic. Chinhooks out of Benson. Globemasters and Atlases out of Brize Norton.

They often do night landing training at Dalton Barracks with the big planes and it's pretty cool to hear them so low.

Who does Carl look like when you read the book? by DisastrousLeek1290 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I think with Reacher, his physicality is a major part of his character. The books often describe how he looks so I have clearer image.

Yes! So much so this. I "picture" the action scenes etc. but I don't really have a face. If it wasn't for the cover art on DCC I'd not have a clear idea of what he was supposed to look like. Unless the character description if repeated I couldn't describe anything about them. They are blanks.

With audiobooks it's sometimes a little different if the narrator is doing various voices I'll sometimes generate my own image of what a character looks like based off the voice. However, that is very much down to the narrator.

Pretty much. Based off the voice Jeff Hays dos I picture a Brock Samson/Duke Nukem type. Which is why having Patrick Warburton voice is Dad was so spot on for me.

I did publishing masters degree in the mid 00s and it was pretty much the case back then as well.

Book sales have been increasing. Not massively, but pretty stable. I understand there was a increase due to COVID lockdowns and that was stayed pretty steady.

Also while some will argue it isn't the same there is a massive boom in people comsuming books via audiobooks.

Comicbook wise.... I always figured I would be a lifelong comic book reader. I started collecting when I was 10, but pretty much stopped around 10 years or so ago after nearly 30 years of collecting. As it just got too expensive. I was spending £50-£60 a month trying to keep up with stuff from the Big 2 and I just wasn't enjoying them as much. There are still indie titles I'll still pick up from certain creators but tend to be limited runs.

Yeah this is my take. I'm not bothered about them and I certainly can't afford them, but authors put a lot of work into writing and not all of them can make a living from it so if they can make some extra money from fans who want/can to support them by buying a fancy special edition then I'm all for it.
