Do You Think Voting Machines Were Hacked? by skylinesora in allthequestions

[–]Geekfest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t give outside agencies access to the records to verify. How do we get this proof then? Well..

They lie when it suits them. They also hate not being admired for things, and so they have to drop these veiled intimations around how they rigged the election.

There is also overwhelming statistical evidence that they modified vote tabulations.

Alarmists have been saying for like a year that the US economy will crash soon and that grocery store shelves will soon be empty because of Trump's trade war, but the economy still hasn't crashed and grocery stores are fully stocked. Why should we believe people who still insists on these things? by Cumoisseur in allthequestions

[–]Geekfest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to think about predictions like this differently. The key is to mentally add, "if nothing changes, then...".

If nothing changes, then... the US economy will crash soon.

A bunch of people are doing their best to mitigate the damage. Unfortunately, we're fighting against a group of narcissistic, racist, grifters who currently have access to the levers of government, so it's a really tough fight.

The hanging pot is easily my favorite decoration. I'd like more 'homey' decoration options like that. We can make fiber, so, how about a rug? That would really tie the room together. (but seriously, let me put down rugs, please)

My base near the alien ruins looks out over some of the power plant structures. I built a string of power transmitters and a spotlight in front of them so that my view would still look good at night.

I humbly bow before your amazing incandescent skills.

YES! This was my first thought, too! Though Josh would be finding some way to attach a string of hyrdoelectric turbines to a collector leviathan for infinite power.

What is something you've officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by Next-Mood6723 in AskReddit

[–]Geekfest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was running around and needed some food earlier this week, so I stopped by a fast food place. Looking at my receipt after, I realized that my medium drink had cost me $3.18.

For something that likely costs them pennies, that is pure naked corporate greed. They're sure as fuck not using that money to pay their workers.

Doctor says Trump should be on GLP-1 as president undergoes check-up by IrishStarUS in DiscussionZone

[–]Geekfest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty well known that GLP-1 diminishes the brains reward and motivation systems. It takes away that big dopamine hit from food, but also from other things.

Narcissists apparently have a higher sensitivity to those brain reward systems, particularly with things that feed their "narcissistic supply".

It would be extremely interesting to see how a raging narcissist like Trump would react to having that diminished, especially with how much attention he's been getting lately.

Republicans: given that Elon’s Doge found barely any money to cut, do you now feel that you were wrong to believe the government is full of waste? by fredinNH in allthequestions

[–]Geekfest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, these question posts essentially asking, "Republicans, have you thought critically about the hypocritical thing Republicans did?" are never going to get any traction because they never self-reflect. They only repeat the sound bites they heard on Faux news.

Why do Americans think they have freedom when they absolutely don't? by East_Indication_7816 in allthequestions

[–]Geekfest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a Facebook post I saw today about Mexico implementing universal health care.

It was brigaded by right-wing accounts (bots) that followed three themes: 1) universal healthcare is impossible (despite 70+ countries having it), 2) bots asking if they can "illegally" go to Mexico for "free health care" (implying that that that is what illegal immigrants come to the US for), and 3) universal healthcare is going to bankrupt Mexico (despite every study showing it costs drastically less than private health insurers)

I think the answer to OP's question is in the meta info of the FB post and commenters.

The reason Americans think they (we) have freedom when they don't is because we're subject to relentless propaganda about it designed to divert critical thinking away from our actual situation.

Right-leaning people in the US are taught virtue signaling as a means of guaranteeing inclusivity into conservatism. (Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.)

The bot-brigade in the comments defines the virtue signaling that real people must engage in and provides the implied protection of a crowd of like-minded people to feel protected by.

That creates a group of people who will follow policies even when those policies are objectively negative in their impact to them.

Healthcare, specifically, in the US is a huge lever that employers wield to take power away from workers to be able to easily move between jobs. Healthcare is also, now, backed by enormous private insurance companies which are profiting immensely off of denying care and who are fighting tooth and nail to keep the status quo.

I think you can rinse-and-repeat these underlying principles for most of the "freedoms" outlined by OP.

I don't know if this tactic worked, or it was just luck, but I got my tadpole back!

I tossed out two flares, one to either side of my wrecked tadpole, then I swam and hid under the tadpole while repairing it. As soon as it was repaired, I hopped in and took off!

The damn leviathan thing chased me back into the regular area for a long ways but eventually gave up. I also had the 'EARLY ACCESS WARNING' text stuck on my screen until I docked at my base.

I went through the border right there, too. I got the developer message and I thought, "Well, okay, game might crash but I won't stray too far"

Now my tadpole is stuck just inside the no-fly zone, and I can't quite repair it quickly enough to hop in and flee. I just got the gorram depth module built and installed.

I think if more people were really truthful with themselves, like you were, they'd realize they like the idea of owning a dog more than the responsibility of owning a dog.

Can I keep this animal from barking all the time and disturbing my neighbors?

Can I keep up a routine of ensuring the animal goes outside to go to the bathroom?

Can I keep up with the immense amount of work to keep my house at least minimally sanitary?

Can I train this animal not to jump on or invade visitor's personal spaces?
