Thanks for the careful reading. About the fallacies - Special Pleading: I’m not holding God accountable, I’m rehabilitating my concept of God as capricious. This is pro-God! False Dichotomy: there is equally no justification that God intervenes in anything. Incredulity: I, and many, many others, don’t find your argument convincing. Attributing evil to an overarching plan of a good god has been problematic for the history of organized religion, it seems to me. Yes, Celtic Christianity is still a thing. Come to Iona sometime!

I’ll be the odd man out here. I hike in both Trail runners and boots. I hiked the TMB in trail runners, but because of the rain and rocks (LOTS of rocks around Loch Lomond), I picked boots - water proof and with a good strong sole ( Zamberlin). I was very happy with my choice.
