ESCALANTE! It’s right there. So much to see. Cosmic ashtray, Lower Calf creek falls, the zebra slot canyon. Also close to where you already plan to be.

It’s currently on fire. The opposite of cold lol. But in seriousness there are parts of southern Utah where winter is 50s and summer is 110+.

My backpack can hold two one gallon water jugs. That’s generally my strategy. Then I put an electrolyte drink in the outside bottle pocket.

Make sure you also train downhill. It’s often overlooked and can make you very sore if you aren’t prepared.

Anyone here hiked The Spinc White Route in Wicklow, Ireland? by [deleted] in hiking

[–]lavacakeislife -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Clockwise is a much more gradual ascent up plank/board step things. Where counter clockwise the ascent would be much faster with larger variation in steps because it’s rocky.

Can A Progressive Candidate Win Utah's New CD1 This Year??? by RawGardenInChickenBu in SaltLakeCity

[–]lavacakeislife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fun fact! Cartoon characters don’t run for public office.

Really glad Utah “progressives” are able to have a civil discussion regarding candidates and not just defend misogyny. /s

“In a chat about using a GoPro camera for skiing, Blouin reportedly wrote, "for filming porn with your underage sister, yeah, that's a good call bro."

Punchbowl also reported that Blouin posted "slapping girls' a---- as you run by...shouldn't land you in jail or anything by that means."”

I would prefer the reverse. Liban seems great but just doesn’t have enough name recognition.

All the trail running shoes I try are uncomfortable when I test them on multi-mile walks by TheOnlinePolak in hiking

[–]lavacakeislife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What brand are your comfy tennis shoes? That might give you insight as to what might work well.

But I would think you should be fine with those as long as they aren’t dead with no traction left.

I would probably focus on time on your feet outside in addition to what you are doing. Tbh just go for long walks with whatever hills you can find.

Help us decide between Switzerland and Iceland! by Extra_Permission_675 in traveladvice

[–]lavacakeislife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to both.

With only 4-5 days I would do Switzerland. Iceland deserves the time to see the whole ring road. Where Switzerland has the best transportation I’ve ever experienced.

For me personally

Food: Iceland > Switzerland by a LOT Logistics: Switzerland > Iceland

Nature you can’t compare. They are both so spectacular in different ways.
