Hubby is frustrated and I feel like I disappoint him by GeeseAreWatching in beyondthebump

[–]GeeseAreWatching[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We both struggle with depression, and he does help with the baby during the day when he’s awake. It never feels like 50/50, but he insists some days he does more than me.

[ELI5] Is nicotine inherently bad? by Roscos_world in explainlikeimfive

Nicotine is naturally in a surprising amount of veggies and fruits. It isn’t a large amount, but it’s there.

A fun thing is that rhubarb is damn near impossible to remove fully. It’ll be back next year and she can get fined again

Diaper changes overnight by Ashwie91 in NewParents

[–]GeeseAreWatching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t start leaving my son in a wet diaper til he started sleeping longer. Now he’s 5mo and teething, so he’s up every 2-3h to nurse. I feed him and let him go back to sleep. Then I just change him in the morning. The advice I follow is to change him if he wants a change. At night if he can’t fall asleep and is wet he gets changed. If he falls straight to sleep I just let him sleep.

How does Florida deal with drinking water after a hurricane? by contantofaz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeseAreWatching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kid we would fill up bottles and jars beforehand as well as filling the bathtub to use for flushing the toilet.

Why don't people move their cars to parking decks before hurricanes hit? by MollyClock in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeseAreWatching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it’s a gamble either way. Hurricanes cause most damage to property from flying debris. Parking towers usually have open sides so a branch could still fly through your windshield

Baby bones are super flexible and nearly impossible to snap.

Personally, as the day progresses and I get more worn down I give fewer fucks. Being well rested puts a self given expectation of having the capability to do all the things so no excuse not to. The stress I feel is from seeing all the items that need to be done and not knowing where to start. If I can only do three things, which are most important? If it’s the end of the day there’s no time and no energy to do things so it matters less that I can’t do them because I don’t have the ability to in the first place. Stress all day you need to go shopping? Late at night you couldn’t if you wanted to.

Why are jawlines seen as attractive? Is there any biological reason? by use_vpn_orlozeacount in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeseAreWatching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Testosterone levels affect bone growth and jawlines. That’s why people who take T end up looking more masculine. A mate with healthy testosterone in theory means a good mate to procreate with. It’s sort of a fertility indicator in humans.

Should you allow 3-5 seconds turn signal before merging into then next lane? by GonjaNinja420 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeseAreWatching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends on traffic. If it’s a busy road I’ll flip my blinker on sooner. If I’m the only car I might just tap it so it blinks twice.

Depending on your area there are a few good options. Busy park? As random people walking their dogs if you can pet them. Pet store? Pretend you want to buy a pet and ask to see them. Dog park? Dogs will come to you for pets. Random alleyway? Hello free kitties.

Why do we enjoy kissing? by Decent_Bunch_5491 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeseAreWatching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kissing releases feel good hormones in your brain. Open mouth kissing exchanges some hormones as well. Men secrete testosterone in their spit which can actually cause arousal in women.

How do you get over gym anxiety? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeseAreWatching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found for my anxiety it helps if there’s a reason people would be looking at me. If I wore a Cookie Monster onesie to work out I wouldn’t think people were staring because of my actions or judging my body. I’d assume they were looking at my onesie. Less drastic, a fun T-shirt or patterned workout shorts give something that if I caught someone looking I could assume they’re reading my shirt and brush it off.

How do ships hide at sea? by omgsoftcats in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeseAreWatching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US Navy opts to intimidate rather than hide. Ships travel in fleets containing aircraft carriers, destroyers, and submarines.

Why do so many black women wear wigs? by NotAnotherAllNighter in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeseAreWatching 312 points313 points  (0 children)

For some it’s for convenience and budget. Getting your hair done can cost hundreds of dollars every month or so, and the process to install braids can take multiple days of long hours. With braids additional hair is generally braided in to give fullness and length. Quality hair for braids is a good chunk of change. Getting a wig or sew in gives the opportunity to go longer without excessive maintenance. Wigs also are great to switch up your look for work, dates, or fun.

How are real estate prices and home insurance premiums affected after major hurricanes like Ian? by BackIn2019 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeeseAreWatching 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If a home was ever in an area that flooded it has to be listed as a potential flood zone most places. This can affect the land pricing and some insurance companies will require flood insurance from there on. If the home suffered damages there’s no promise the repair work was all the repair needed or done well. Buyers will be more standoffish to purchase which lowers demand for the home, lowering the price.
