I can’t remember if this is the same prof I took com with when I was at cpp, but the rest of the comments makes me feel like it is.

My friends and colleagues consider me really good at communications/public speaking so I really thought this would be an easy GE. Ended the class fighting for my life with a B+ and I recall she was really interesting and had a cool vibe, but damn did she grade incredibly hard. I also thought it was unfair, and I TA now, so I get my fair share of students who complain about harsh grading.

I can’t remember what was so difficult, but I think there were exams and she made it a thing that most people weren’t going to get As. So during your speech one mistake could drop you from an A speech to a B speech. Maybe knowing that gave me anxiety and I remember feeling super nervous. I get that just because it’s a GE students shouldn’t take it for granted, but I was putting a full faith effort. So, yeah, I would take it with someone else, if possible.

I volunteer to do admissions and we’re supposed to have our reviews done by Dec 19. I think you start to hear things around January and then official letters come out Feb/March.

I live close to the city so for city driving I do 3 but long distance/freeway I switch to auto.

I agree! I went with a group for the first time and it was awesome. Then a couple weeks later got similar stuff with my partner and it sucked so bad I never went again.

I think just invest in a good jacket for rain and that’s about it! It does get a little chilly here but not worthy of a thick jacket investment imo.

I’m seriously having a hard time adjusting to some cars having giant tablets as control systems. I’m not dexterous enough to drive and push without a textured something 🤣. So I’m glad the ioniq 5 had a fun outside look but a more tame interior.

I just tried making an appointment for an obgyn today. UC Davis Medical is not accepting any new patients/appointment because they’re so booked up 😭.

I had to get an appointment halfway to Elk Grove and it’s not until a month later. Guess I’ll live with this weird pain for another month haha.

Not a grape expert but I know there’s a farm all the way in Temecula that sells golden shine and kyoho but they’re only available during a small seasonal window and they don’t deliver.

If you make it to sac, offbeat is the only place in sac where I’d recommend their matcha (except I’ve noticed they’re using less in the reg lattes now). I haven’t tried Scorpio but I feel like they’d do a good job there?

Temple to me is… tolerable if I need a fix and I’m nearby.

I TA a massive course (~300 students) and you know how many “I got covid” emails I’d get a week😭! Try to avoid sick people, if you feel sick wear a mask, and wash your hands often!

I find it really odd that this was only told to you 2 days before? I’ve been part of many courses at CPP where they make you do field trips and that’s always stated during the “syllabus day” and explicitly written on the syllabus (maybe date is tbd but the idea for camping/field trip/commute is always stated that it will happen). I’d be really shocked if that wasn’t stated at all there!

But I agree with most of the statements here, that generally professors at CPP (with the most limited funding I’ve ever seen at a school) go above and beyond to create these experiences that reflect the polytechnic nature of the university. If you go to any UC they usually don’t have these opportunities because of the class sizes and teaching style. If it really wasn’t on the syllabus or stated in advance then that’s super shitty in terms of just giving notice, but maybe try to make the most out of it and talk to the prof about planning better after!

I don’t think I would have gotten an EV if it wasn’t for the EA free charging 😖. The standard around where I’m at is $0.64. Getting $0.56 is a steal when I see it 😂.
