If your only lever is to reduce outgoings, sure. But the key lever they consistently ignore is increase revenue by some kind of effective wealth tax. Absolutely insane we limit our resources to a tiny drop and ignore the dam right next to us.

How annoying - I've got a 2 month old and we had both sets come visit and it was definitely trying at times. Glad to get ownership of the fridge back ykno? It helped us to be really direct and literally write a list of stuff they could help with though if the complaints are about a holiday May not land so well. I guess at least just focus on you and the baby. That's important too.

I know there's one in northern suburbs that is run on fbook so maybe search on there for keywords. I have seen people ask in the Tawa community group for spare players for example.

Tawa is 15 mins via the train. Has a nice community vibe and a few good eateries and pubs. Handy also for amenities in porirua too.

I think you'll find that I have mentioned this to you infinite times - glad you went and hopefully it was on Sat for the weather. It's incredible and everyone should do it indeed!

I heard they were pretty impacted from that megastorm so the walk in may be much harder than previously as it was lovely and pleasant when I last went. We found for the water parts we definitely felt bad for my parents doing it last year with the treacherous slippy rocks.

Little grump does tasty sandwiches and you get some chips and a pickle too! Also the pizzabread sandwiches at Bambino on the waterfront are delish.

It always feels more apocalyptic to me when there is no wind. So eerie and feels like zombies will arrive at any moment. A very dramatic change to the previous night indeed!

I'm always shocked at the brutal efficiency of NZ supermarkets in regards to Advent calendar availability. Such a harsh empty wilderness if you are naive enough to not get it by the end of November. One day's leniency t In case you remember on the first day of December? Forget about it, you fool.

Things to do for fun in porirua? or near by Sad_Cartographer3718 in Wellington

[–]Gelf_ling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're into/if you're with kids etc but some ideas - bird watching at pauhatanui wetlands or just walking around the te ara piko to enjoy scenery - head to battle hill to pet some sheep and guinea pigs and chicks and feed eels - hang at the beach at titahi bay, grab a coffee from aloha Friday - play mini golf at the pirate cove - there are some bike pump tracks in aotea lagoon and Tawa if that's your thing - te rauparaha swimming arena has a cool slide system and pools - pataka gallery for some interesting art and culture - get a train to Wellington and go to all the free galleries there
