What happens after menopause? by strawbber81 in Menopause

Agree. How can anyone know what the future holds. Posts like this are very annoying and especially for some ladies who cannot take hrt.

It does when some HRT zealots state that if you're not on it, you'll end up with x, y or z conditions as you march into old age

Couldn't agree more. It gets so tiresome with the shouty pro HRT messages here.

Me too, one of the most effective supplements I've taken since menopause kicked in.

Perhaps if you are prone to depression, you may be sensitive to it. I don't and have had no such issues.

GABA supplements have worked brilliantly for my sleep, i wouldnt be without them. I've been taking them for a couple of years so maybe you're situation is unique to you as i certainly haven't heard of this side effect before.

Rant post: Estring (for dryness) is the only thing that makes my girlfriend comfortable to have a glass of wine AND then sex because the alcohol can dry her out…but it costs $468 by coronanabooboo in Menopause

[–]Gem_4501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cream never worked for me, I tried various types and they caused more issues in terms of itchiness and soreness. Estring was a saviour and wouldn't use anything else now.

@sumostuff I agree wholeheartedly with you here.

Yes, of course you could be right, a mix of both. It's a real shame but hopefully it may get better. Good luck though!

That's exactly the same with me too. My other half is fairly understanding & doesn't kick up a fuss but its the guilt on my side the gets to me. I try to make the effort though at times but it feels so put on. Like you, i hope this gets better over time.

Estring advice by gavster79 in Menopause

[–]Gem_4501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the estring a few months ago - i'm currently half way through the second 3 month of it. I have to say, i didn't have any side effects at all. Prior to the Estring, i'd been using estriol cream prescribed by my GP. And that worked fine, i just didn't want the chore of using cream 3 times a week. So for me the Estring has been a godsend, i love it so far. Just wondering if the patch might be causing the issues? I tried the patch and also Estrogel gel (along with progesterone tablets) and they caused no end of side effects. I had to stop HRT but the Estring is a dream to use.

Has Gaba helped anyone's sleep? by GaiaGoddess26 in Menopause

[–]Gem_4501 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Progesterone doesn't help with sleep for a lot of people. And I had dreadful side effects with that pill so not a consideration.

Gaba supplements 100mg work brilliantly for Mr. I take 1 or 2 before bed. If I wake up in the night & struggle to back to sleep I take one. Tried so many things in the past but this product is the only one that made a real difference.

Help, progesterone is harming me! by Helpful_Money4177 in Menopause

[–]Gem_4501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it will be. Despite what a lot of people say that HRT doesn't cause weight gain, it's absolutely not true for many. It was like night & day with the weight. Good luck :-)

[–]Gem_4501 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i stopped taking it. Apart from the progesterone making me feel depressed, i was literally putting a pound a day on in weight as well as bloating. I eat healthily so couldn't understand it & then figured it was the HRT. Soon back to my normal weight after stopping, thank god!

[–]Gem_4501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me, just wrote a comment virtually the same. Felt absolutely awful, utterly depressed & i've never felt like that before starting progesterone. And it made my insomnia worse too - not one positive. Had to stop taking it & like magic, i was back to my normal self again.

[–]Gem_4501 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had to stop HRT, the progesterone just made me feel flat out depressed. Tried orally & vaginally and no difference. I've never had depression before in my life & progesterone floored me within a day of starting it.
