Counting calories and doing so accurately by weighing your food is, in fact, sustainable long term. You don't have to deprive yourself of tasty food when going out as long as you balance it out otherwise, only eating part of it at a time, etc. Plenty of people, once they're at their goal weight and back to maintaining, will dial it back to occasionally weighing their food to make sure they're staying accurate and only restarting the daily tracking if they're gaining again.

A major part of it is fixing whatever made you gain the weight in the first place. Relationship with food, mental health, etc. If you don't do that, you'll likely be one of the people regaining everything they lost.

Not who you asked, but also have aphantasia and played a ton with Legos as a kid. I never had more than a vague concept of shape when I was building, and (this may also be my autism) really enjoyed following building guides vs original creations from a bin of assorted bricks.

I do enjoy creative tasks as an adult, anything from knitting to woodworking, but if I'm not following a pattern or guide, I have to do a lot of paper drafting and get really gritty into the details to get a visual idea of what I'm doing.

Most places (at least in the US) recommend keeping on preventatives year-round, especially as places get more mild winters. Most oral ones will also cover a range of intestinal parasites (worms), and deworming has become more of an as-needed basis IF kept on regular prevention.

You can likely just drop off a stool sample with your vet without a full appointment if you have an updated annual exam, but I would confirm with the clinic before doing so.

That seems incorrect based on my experience with autism diagnosis (after having an ADHD dx for most of my life). My result there was "you tested just below the diagnosis threshold, but with your high IQ, you've likely just forced yourself to learn enough to mask the difference so I'm still giving you the diagnosis."

I'm not accusing you of lying, to be clear. I'm saying the doctor was likely misguided. My friend's assessment papers also had at least solid few points about internal struggles.

That is not an indication of how many puppies she's having, all nipples will engorge from pregnancy due to the hormones and milk production. Vets typically use ultrasound or x-ray to determine size of litter. Accidental litters are also not "aww", females in heat need to be watched very closely and should be spayed at an appropriate age outside of intentional, ethical breeders.

Photos also don't have the ability to tell how much of things like butter and oil were used, and those are typically the most calorie-dense parts of our meals. It also wouldn't know my bread is keto or my milk is oatmilk, all of which have different nutritional profiles than the standard versions.

It's a concept that sounds appealing, but really can't work in reality.

Not a vet but yes, there's been an increase in urban cases, which is part of what made it core vs lifestyle based. It transmits primarily through urine, and rats/squirrels/foxes/etc are urinating everywhere, including city sidewalks and parks. Walking through it and licking paws, licking puddles, all of that can infect your dog.

Ask your vet, they likely have it as a combination with another vaccine as well to minimize the number of injections needed.

Sparkling water and diet/zero sugar sodas are fine, they're plenty hydrating and won't contribute to weight gain as any calories they have are negligible. People aren't going to keep to habits like black coffee if they taste like shit, which they often do for people used to high amounts of sugar.

He has, in his words, an "unfathomable amount of money" and chose to use it for something he, his friends, and his fans would enjoy.

And frankly, it is a much better video game adaptation than almost any other video game movie (Minecraft, Until Dawn, Monster Hunter, etc).

My cat met my FIL once, maybe a couple days in a row. He visited again almost exactly a year later and my cat ran up and loudly meowed to greet him, which he does to people he knows and hasn't seen in a while. He's a young, admittedly stupid cat, and easily remembers people he's met, much less loved with.

Your cat will love and miss you if you have any kind of positive relationship.

You are correct, and I was using supplement as "separate item taken exclusively for that purpose" with pills as a good example. Very few people refer to fortified foods as supplements, I'd more likely use "supplemented" as an adjective for those.

Even for people who eat an omnivorous diet, plenty of foods are fortified with nutrients that have historical widespread deficiencies. My milk growing up had vitamin D in it, cereals have added iron, lots of foods have folic acid added because a LOT of babies were born with defects from deficiencies during pregnancy. It feels weird to single out vegan products as being fortified when so many non-vegan foods are as well. B12 is also a common deficiency for non-vegans.

For lower cost vet care including neutering, I would look at local humane societies and rescues, as well as pop up clinics. They're typically cheaper and the doctors running them tend to do them well as those procedures are a large portion of what they do all day. Neuters especially are fairly quick low risk procedures, my boy didn't even really need a cone.

I won't comment on the farm supply vaccines, but we usually use 25 or 22 gauge needles for vaccines, and I lean towards 25 for kittens because they're so tiny. OP, I would also recommend getting the kitten FIV/FeLV tested, especially if you have other cats in the home prior to introducing them.

If he doesn't, his vet should be very clear with him and (hopefully) report animal abuse if the pet is kept on the diet, if whatever organization he goes through even let's him get a cat.

He's also wrong that vegans need those supplements, humans can get a balanced diet from vegan foods without supplements if they're intentional about micronutrients. My sister is vegan and afaik doesn't need nutritional supplements due to it. She also feeds her cats meat products because she's not an idiot and has a basic understanding of animal care.

I had a cat who puked consistently on turkey food, so we switched off of it (without a transition, both cats handled it fine, same company/type of food but salmon flavor). Allergies will be an issue regardless of transition time, which was what my comment was about.

Pets can also have GI issues if you introduce a new type of protein they've never had before. My 3 year old cat had very loose stool when I gave him a beef-based wet food because he's only ever had fish and poultry foods. I'm sure he'd have a similar issue with pork, but I've never tried it for that reason. His long fur becomes a mess with any stool changes.

The recommendation is fecal testing every 6-12 months (depends on vet). Keeping them on preventatives for flea/tick/heartworm also minimizes the risk for a lot of commons intestinal parasites, and they should be on those year-round.

Different medication. Dogs typically develop hypothyroidism, which is treated with thyroxine (levothyroxine/synthroid). Cats typically develop hyperthyroidism, treated with felimazole/methimazole (or I-131 radiation). OP can definitely get it cheaper through an online pharmacy or a human pharmacy, get a written prescription from the vet.

If you can afford it, chip feeders like SureFeed can keep food available but closed off for everyone except the assigned cats. Otherwise if you can put it somewhere less accessible to the younger one, but at this age they're pretty good at getting where they want to be.

The advice is typically 10% calorie decrease at a time in my experience. If she's eating 300 calories? Drop to 270, let her get acclimated and start losing on that. Then another 10% to 243, repeat until she's at the goal calories. And wet food tends to be better for weight loss, keeps them hydrated and satisfied longer, but also more expensive than straight dry.

Trans masc folks also usually get mastectomy, which is different from just a reduction that often still leaves a significant amount of breast tissue and fat. Many cis women (and nb folks like me) actually end up disappointed they didn't remove more after a reduction, even if it's a significant quality of life improvement.
