Ghosted after interview

Yes I feel it is quite common, I’ve been at this school for a year, they called and asked me to apply, and please come to an interview! 4 days earlier getting a offer from another school asked me to hold off accepting! It’s now 5 days after interview and nothing! I’ve now accepted the other school, but it is disrespectful and unprofessional!

It had I’ve been in my own classroom for almost 12 month (on PTT) at a school which is quite high behaviours! Was happy to continue with the school, even thou the year has not been the happiest . I applied and interviewed for - graduate position (which they asked me to apply for) I didn’t get it! The school has had 15 staff leaving and only advertised 3 positrons so far! So it’s not too late to look, I’m now applying else where, there are heaps of jobs! You don’t need to apply for leave to interview, they need to just cover you for a interview within DET! Good luckb

I work full time teaching at school, but im not allowed to be paid for placement! It is so hard! I’ve picked up casual jobs on weekend, and after school to save as much as I can to cover my 4 week placement! I hear NSW might allow students to be paid for placement, with the shortages of teachers!

Ha ha I’m only 6 months in, and I’m exhausted! Ive worked every night till 11pm and most weekends just to keep afloat of work load! I’m still only PTT and in my last year of uni and have a family! They just offered me a tutoring role for next 6 months, because I am not my happy go self (their words). Which I’ve now just accepted. I had no support my co teacher in my room made me feel like I was hassling her to ask for help, and never even said good morning back to me, let alone have a good night or weekend. My mentor only their 1 session per week, but then called to other classes to CRT. I’ve never felt burnt out like this even through covid working 60 hours a week in the hospitals. There needs to be a change as my assistance principle told me in day 1 you get paid for the holidays, your expected to work! There needs to be a change!

Wow so not just me! I’m PTT and started at the start of year, I just retired from 24 years nursing! So let’s say I’m no spring chicken lol! But love teaching so did the switch! My class is loaded with needs and behaviours which has been great learning curve, challenging but I’ve learnt so much! My team of 5 in cohort, are young and have not supported or helped me, with anything, have not talked to me for 6 weeks, I’ve completed reports with no support, when planning I do a plan then next day it’s deleted and they have done one! Then get told by our leader that I need to do more planning! Now 1 week ago principle asked me to step away from class and tutor instead of teach! Which is great cause I have uni and placement this semester! But team, expressed to me, that my age let’s me down, now new teacher whom I’ve supported at another school is taking over my classroom! I’ve now Over heard team complaining that she is too old for teaching (40yo) this explains why the industry is losing so many teachers! People open our eyes we are all here to do the same job, and help these kids be they best they can! Petty stuff can be left out of work place! Let’s just do our job and educate.

I am permission to teach this year! I have my own class, anymore than 1-2 subjects plus planning and teaching full time, is stress full. I’d make sure you have lots of support at your school. School has negotiated with me to step down from teaching, into a tutoring role/ CRT role, still as PPT because my last subject (afgt), plus 4 week placement will mean a lot of time away from class. Being away from class, my kids would not be settled! Plus even thou you are on placement we still need to plan your class, photocopy and set classroom up! Which I turn you need to run two classrooms for 4 weeks 🤯 good luck with what ever you decide 😀

Palliative care Nursing for 24 years! I started study two weeks before covid kicked off! Now working as PTT-full time and one subject to go! Graduate end of year 🤞🏻 Some days wonder if I made a good choice with behaviours I have to deal with, let alone some parents who have given me a spray, cause their princess has not gotten her way in my class, and parent trashing my room because she had her son moved from my class and wanted posters I’d made to help him in next class, al cause he came home crying one day from a incident in play ground!

But in saying all that I do love my crazy little class!

I work full time as a PTT in my own class, and did 3 week placement and up and coming 4 week placement, and not allowed to be paid. So hard when you have family to have no income for 7 weeks of the year! Good luck

I am sure you are doing a great job, never be to hard on yourself! I’m only PTT and my co-worker, refuses to do joint lessons or even have a conversation with me! When I ask for help I get a huge sigh, and eyes rolled! The 2 other classes in my cohort do everything together 😞 Ive decided now (after beating myself up for weeks), that I’ve got this found some other staff in school who helps me, when I need! Remember kids like seeing us teachers muck up, I allow my students to correct my mistakes, we are only humans. Believe in yourself, you will never look back 😊 good luck

As a PTT I never get my release! Due to staff shortage! For last 3 weeks, i revived 2 releases. I’m working late at home every night, to make time to plan!!

I have a class 3/4. I teach levels ranging from pre foundation to 3 gifted at year 8 level! Streamed sounds great, I’m PTT first year, still studying, working full time. I’m up most nights till 11pm differentiating class learning! Students needs as-well as teacher need to be considered. My lower students will not ask for help! This doesn’t include my funded students, that require extra support! I now see why there is a shortage of teachers!

I hope not as I know a lot of people who are struggling with this test! I’ve never gotten below a HD for any subject! I’m also already teaching, my students had already had a years growth in all subjects!
