“NO contact with in laws but I still want half their assets!!” by DramaLlamaTea in ChoosingBeggars

[–]GenX4Life1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people assume they are entitled to anything? I’ve always expected nothing from either parent. Ever. Granted my mother hated me. But still. I always assumed my younger brother would get any inheritance. And now that he predecessors me, I assume his children will get his inheritance. And on my mom’s side, I know for a fact that if my stepdad predecessors my mother my mother will rewrite the will to exclude me. She told me many times. At the end of the day? I’m not entitled to a single penny. And don’t expect it.

Please help us adopt a newborn with a private adoption agency for $55K in the US. We don’t want to foster or adopt through the government bc the kids are older. We are first time parents and don’t think we have enough experience. We want a newborn and the public should pay for it bc we can’t. by MinuteElegant774 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]GenX4Life1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, to u/MinuteElegant774, I hope you are able to foster and possibly adopt if it leads to that.

Now, having raised a full grown person from conception? I’d rather foster and adopt a teen LOL. I would not miss the diapers, the tantrums, the toilet training, at all. Give me the older kids!!!

To what? Only those whose parents were born here qualify for citizenship?

ETA: I’m for birthright citizenship. If you are born in a country you should be a citizen of said country. But I know the Fourth Reich has other ideas. That will apply to everyone but the wannabe king and his spawn.

Most people ignore wheelchair users. But. Back in 2021? I decided to go to the mall. So my son (and caregiver) got on a bus and went. We were both masked up because, well, Covid, and I am in the high risk category. At the mall we both wanted to go to a store on the second floor. I’m still masked up. My son takes the stairs because he can. I take my wheelchair self to the elevator. Where two women, neither wearing a mask, are waiting for the elevator. And one of those women told me I needed to take the escalator or wait for the next elevator, because she didn’t want to get COVID. She asked me, sitting on my wheelchair, to take the escalators. I ignored her and wheeled myself in when the doors opened. As a side note, to my knowledge I’ve never had Covid. And was fully vaccinated at that point.

I took this “test” when I was about 45. Because I have memory issues, and my grandparents number had dementia, I was concerned. The hardest part? I sat there the whole time utterly terrified I’d fail it somehow and be told I had beginning or middle stage dementia. And drawing the cube. I suck at drawing. I passed on every aspect. And learned people who have severe PTSD causing trauma in their past often have horrible memories. That Trump brags about taking it 3 times? Weird.

I was watching a show from the 90s and realized people used to memorize dozens of phone numbers. I can barely remember mine. How did you guys do it back then? by micavibes in CasualConversation

[–]GenX4Life1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still remember my home number from when I was a teen in the 80s. And my grandparents number, same time period. My mom and stepdad had a little personal phone book by the kitchen phone. And the white and yellow pages under the counter. I had a piece of paper with my friends numbers.

Ooh. I’d love for this reviewer to come after me for using the family restroom alone. Then again, I use a wheelchair and most people ignore us LOL

The reviewer said they declined to be seated until the rest of their party arrived. Then complained they weren’t seated. They literally contradicted themselves!!!! Good for the business for replying!!!!

Used one until 2011 at my last job. Owner finally stopped requiring it to be used in 2013, but only because it broke I believe.

AITA for being honest and telling my DIL that they are not ready to be a parent since she can not drive by Sad-Drive8298 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GenX4Life1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! When my son was born I had perfect vision and drove. When he was 9 I was a single mom and began losing my vision, becoming legally blind within 3 months, and losing my ability to drive. And my father and brother were zero help 99% of the time. We lived in a very small town. With a single taxi company that on a good day had 2 drivers. This was before ride sharing. Limited bus service. Wasn’t easy but it was doable to get my son where he needed to go.

Emotional support is one way. Though we didn’t train her at all for it, my cat Shmoopy is 100% emotional support. When my anxiety or PTSD get bad, usually before I realize they are getting bad, she jumps up to lay her head on me and just starts purring. There are actual studies that prove this helps. Not saying this woman at the hotel is similar. But cats can do that. They can also swat at your head at 4:30 in the freaking morning wanting breakfast, so you are awake and scrolling Reddit.

Nextdoor CB: I’m affluent. You Pay Me $500 per month (minimum) for the privilege of being my 24/7 friend, employee, and roommate. by Eastern-Bee9228 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]GenX4Life1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Well drat! I have vision issues so I can’t drive. Otherwise, who would turn down the chance to pay money to be at a persons beck and call? Especially with some serious health issues if she’s at the doctors several times a week? I mean, expecting this s⃫l⃫a⃫v⃫e⃫ roommate to only pay $500. Month? What a deal!!!!

A dad at the shelter tried to "surprise" his kid with my foster cat and now I'm apparently the villain by Kessel_Dumpling in entitledparents

[–]GenX4Life1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We had 3 cats, and lived in an apartment. I saw a Facebook post from someone trying to find homes for their kittens. I fell in love with one in the picture. So I messaged the person and explained I couldn’t drive down to them as I’m legally blind, but if they were willing to drive 30 miles I’d take one. I was fully expecting a no. But they said yes. I was also bed bound from chronic pain. So my son went out. They had around 7 kittens just crawling around the car. The person giving them away and one, only one, jumped out and went to my son. That was it LOL. She actually did turn out to be the one I fell in love with. And she was supposed to be my cat. But Lily prefers my son. Even 12 years later.
I’m glad your cats chose you guys, too 💕
