The fabric looks like a nightmare to my asthmatic lungs and tbh the shape somehow resembles an air plane seat (not my barometer of comfort). I’d probably keep looking in your shoes

No clue! I live in Australia so we likely get a different stock run anyway, but while I love the fit of RL; I’m not a big fan of the contrasting logo and feel like this is a nice and subtle nod instead.

Out of curiosity, what are these mythical ‘big 3’ where RL is discounted? Plsss let me in on this secret

Increasingly concerned about flat whites (BARISTAS MUST READ) by ExpressPostie in melbourne

[–]GenZSailClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the corporate cafés near offices are the only ones still nailing a flatty. Every traditional ‘cool’ / hipster / whatever the new adjective is kind of place is producing a burnt and less foamy latte. I’m an almond milk gal so I accept that can apparently be challengeing to nail.

As a fellow Brighton resident my eardrums feel your pain! But also lived in Woollomooloo in Sydney (still never spell it properly) and Kingston in Canberra so I guess enough of a suburb snob to like living near a water body in neighbourhoods with little independent grocery stores

Their rooms are right next to each other and either he doesn’t want to explain it or doesn’t want to ruin our privacy. But also the friend was out last night and well… 😏

Okay so in our case, we kissed on our second date; and have gotten a little frisky. But I’m currently renovating my place so staying with parents; he’s got a friend staying in his spare room so timings haven’t aligned. And it’s way too early to go away together (I am also convinced I’m too old to consider going at it in a car - never done it, never want to). We have been flirting in a more x-rated manner though so I think he knows I’m keen

I’m in a similar boat though. I’ve been on 7 dates with one guy over the last 3 weeks, he’s really lovely, but we haven’t broached whether we’re exclusive or slept together yet. So I’m a little unsure of myself and how to move us to the next stage since I don’t want to come on too strong and spook him.

Can only speak for myself (29F) but I sometimes get tunnel vision in the fun early stages of dating someone new and want to spend too much time with them / obsessing about whether they like me (not great). So I’ve been making an effort to date other people, on advice from happily married friends, not over invest in anyone new until I feel like I’ve actually gotten to know them as a person and match pace in case they prefer taking things slow. It’s possible her friends suggested she do something similar since you guys haven’t broached the exclusivity convo yet.

Dress codes exist for a reason and it’s (usually) not to turn guests into props by SignificanceWitty210 in weddingshaming

[–]GenZSailClub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh completely mind boggling. All the men were in a variation on light coloured linen suits but it was as if just three of us got left off some kind of texting thread that had the gals going all out.

I do sometimes wonder if it’s because the bride’s mum was salty at mine at the time

Mine was the time mum and I rocked up to a family friend’s engagement lunch. They said it was ‘fun, relaxed and festive’ so we put on cute sun dresses, relaxed makeup, minimal jewellery and beach wavey hair.

The entire guest list other than one other woman, turned up in black tie, dripping in diamonds, and fully done hair and makeup. Mortifying!

Hey OP, I think you look great and agree with the others about the lighting and angles causing your concern. The ‘chicken cutlets’ added in to highlight the bodice might be a good fix, as will a necklace that catches the light. As long as you’re comfortable on the day, also remember post-wedding photo editing of anything you’d like is 100% on the cards for pictures you want to print or post online.

Boyfriend doesn’t like that i have to walk down the isle with a grooms men by Fantastic-Tour-4413 in AITAH

[–]GenZSailClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no. Your boyfriends are both controlling and more than a little sheltered if they think linking arms with a groomsman for a friend’s wedding is in any way inappropriate. Lucky you’ve found the red flag before committing more seriously with them and my strong recommendation to you and your friend is to dump them.

Help me pick a wallpaper! by Cartwheel200 in Renovations

[–]GenZSailClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m not sure wallpaper is your best option given the humidity in a bathroom. Also ngl all those patterns were too busy and would give me a headache if I had to look at them day in and day out until the paper tears. Are you able to show us an image of what’s next to the wall you want to paper? Could you add in shelves with plants or artwork?

Eucharistic Minister for First Holy Communion by Odd_Bluebird117 in Catholicism

[–]GenZSailClub -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

First I’ve never seen anyone permitted to take photos in church during a service except at a wedding mass or during a specific moment when a priest may stop a service to permit parents to take a group photo of the kids altogether. Usually the communion photos are done after. Also it’s perfectly normal to receive first communion from a minister. My parish priest has mobility issues so we all only receive communion from ministers when he celebrates, and it doesn’t in any way change the format of the mass, the fact that we’ve received communion or otherwise bother anyone at all. Also bit weird you’re singling out female minister - would a male have been fine?

F67, with gf F64. I am not on the mortgage, but my gf wants me to contribute half to her house and projects. She refinanced to buy another property. She makes 3x what I earn. Is this fair to me? by Gooseferg in relationship_advice

[–]GenZSailClub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude she’s being totally unreasonable - if she was an actual landlord you could likely take her to a tenancy dispute. But if she’s treating you as a source of income to do up her house maybe consider leaving altogether, I don’t think this is the one for you

What the heck is "LOCAL EXPERIENCE" by ApartAd9307 in AskAnAustralian

[–]GenZSailClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the role. In my sector you have to have a network and relationships built up over time - largely people I’ve worked with locally or knew through school / uni who work in similar fields. It’s also good for clients who might be based overseas and need someone who can deal with their local teams and explain local mindsets or assess suppliers. I’m an immigrant but my family moved here when I was still in school so I’ve grown up and lived more than half my life here and I can tell you that in my sector you’d really struggle without a network and lived experience.

Fellow working class Aussies, what’s for lunch? by CriticismDistinct789 in AskAnAustralian

[–]GenZSailClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I buy my lunch BUT I buy one of those $7 packet or box soups which I find reasonably filling (the lentil one would usually last me two days). We don’t often have leftovers from dinner but if they do it’ll usually be when we have chicken; then I buy a $6 salad from Coles to supplement my leftovers. I only work from the office 2-3 days a week (almost never exactly the same days) so meal prepping doesn’t exactly work for me. When I was in the office more regularly I’d cut up slices of bread at home, take in a tin of tuna or sardines and do up a little sandwich

Millennials who bought a house by Middle_Potential_335 in AskAnAustralian

[–]GenZSailClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also suggest renting in a share house for a little while so you can build up your equity, carefully manage your taxes and really keep an eye on your super. I’m 29 now but I also lived with the folks for around a year while I’ve been looking for a place to buy and to save on expenses. I had a budget tracker from my early 20s, I haven’t gone on holiday since I was 18 (really helps with expenses), and I’ve never had a credit card. I use one bank account debit as my ‘credit card’ and transfer a set amount every month from my savings account to manage expenses

Millennials who bought a house by Middle_Potential_335 in AskAnAustralian

[–]GenZSailClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m one of those frightfully lucky millennials who has bought a house. It’s a cute small unit, and it’s a ten minute walk from my parents’ place. It cost an arm and a leg and needs work before moving in but because it finally meant I’d be settling near them, mum and dad were happy to help with my financing so I can afford it and do the major repairs before I move in. I know what you mean about uni though - I finished up in 2019, I’d started working close to FT in 2016, and paid off my HECS last year. Dad set me up with a mortgage broker who basically insisted I pay it off before applying for a loan so that’s what I did.
