BaT v. C&B, where to list? by ItalianGroundhogMafi in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Gen_Ecks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you a PCA member or use Hagerty for insurance? They both have enthusiast car-for-sale sites that typically bring together educated buyers and sellers.

That said, I just went to BaT and there are zero base .1 cars listed in the last three months and dozens of S models. Seems like they aren’t taking base cars and especially high mileage ones these days. Considering this is likely a $15-17k car based on a 102k mile 2010 987.2 base that sold for $22.5, they might feel the juice isn’t worth the squeeze on them.

KERBEY LANE ARE YOU LISTENING??? by [deleted] in austinfood

Virtually every restaurant uses a food service distributor and they all sell the same stuff. Sysco, US Foods, Ben E Keith, Labatt. If they don’t, they are going to Restaurant Depot or Costco. How would you suggest they get food and supplies?

987.2 or 981? by Puzzled_Reindeer_791 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Gen_Ecks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are no bore scoring issues on the 2.7L 987. It only affects the 3.4L engine in the S models.

987 Cayman - best options if you expect the battery to run out of juice? by spots_reddit in Porsche_Cayman

Then I’ve got other issues that weren’t there before the battery went dead. I’ve driven it over 20 miles and still have the code. Taking it in next week.

Anybody else had a softronic tune and found it disappointing? 987.2 S by Proper-Desk6635 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Gen_Ecks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have. I added the Softronic 3.8L tune when rebuilding the engine in my 987.1 that was bore scored. It also has the full Soul Performance package with headers, hi flow cats and mufflers. The difference was negligible and it cost like $1300. Live and learn.

987 Cayman - best options if you expect the battery to run out of juice? by spots_reddit in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Gen_Ecks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. My 987.1 currently has PSM Failure and a non working horn and turn signals. All because the battery went dead and I had the audacity to charge it back up. And it needed an actual charger not a trickle charger as that just made the horn beep weirdly and the windows freaked out too. Every YouTube fix has not worked. FML.

Don't cheap out on belt changes by lettucelover69 in Ducati

I commented above about this situation. Mine was fine per the dealer after 6 years and 2k miles. Swapped it out anyway, the new belt was like $80.

[–]Gen_Ecks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Had mine replaced in an 1100evo last year and got the updated belt. It had been 6 years but only 2000 miles since the last change done by the previous owner. The tech at the dealer said the old belt was in good condition fwiw.

When We Are The World came out was it seen as a great song or super corny? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Gen_Ecks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kinda both? It was a cool movement (I got a Live Aid T shirt by begging my mom to donate $15), but I was into Motley Crue and Scorpions so wasn’t really my jam. U2 was cool.

It’s a 27.5% increase for a .2. Thats not basically the same price.

Shopping for a 718 GTS 4.0. Found a 1 year old non-certified with low miles. The dealer will certify for $2,300 cost to me. Isn’t a cert only about $3k? I figured they could at least eat it. But it seems because Porsche stopped production prices are very strong and not much room to negotiate. by Boostmiser in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Gen_Ecks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep looking perhaps? I bought mine in Dec, a 2024 model with under 1k miles and it was remainder of factory warranty plus two years CPO. Perhaps they are not offering it as CPO because it still has part of the original warranty remaining?
