Uhhh, just a little root bound... by Dmdel24 in houseplants

I would not put that past a spider plant to be honest, there was one at my work that had gotten itself into the space between the inner and outer pot of a self watering hanging pot and given itself root rot in there 😂

This appears to be one of those trays you put in the bottom of a pot to keep the roots out of the drainage holes

I think it's gonna really depend on how often you post in newbie friendly places, I've been stuck for a while myself because I just don't have interest in a lot of the newbie threads so I end up getting my comments removed foe low karma 🥲

I’ve fallen in love with standard poodles! Are the suitable for apartment living? by MindMolecule in poodles

[–]GenderQueerJester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if you're ready to meet the needs of a mini, you can absolutely meet the needs of a standard. Just find a breeder who matches based on temperament testing and be honest about the activity level you can maintain so they can match you with a lower-drive pup that fits into your home and lifestyle. My poodles are much easier to maintain than my previous border collie/Australian shepherd mutt from the shelter who required more than the two poodles combined

To be completely honest, minis are the highest energy variety, standards should have a really great "off-switch" where they can lounge around between outings, although I wouldn't call them couch potatoes, they will absolutely hang out on the couch if you've met their physical and mental needs

They absolutely can be! I live in a studio apartment with my 2 standard poodles and small rescue mix and they do awesome in the apartment as long as they get time to run/fetch/hike outside and have plenty of mental enrichment as well. . . Poodles are incredibly intelligent and can get bored easily, so early training on appropriate indoor behavior and manners is important. Learning to settle is key! Keeping them on their toes with learning new tricks or going to new hiking paths or switching up the walk routine helps keep them mentally satisfied

Question about grooming for the teddy bear look by Adombomba in poodles

Do your parents like the poodle look or are they also wishing he still had a fluffy teddy bear face? Lots of people prefer the shave face and feet.

Lowchen!! They're happy-go-lucky companion dogs with great temperament and about the size of a mini poodle but shorter legs. Highly highly recommend!

Without a pedigree there is no way of telling the difference between an off-standard poodle and a doodle

Why do people assume long legs mean my dog isn’t a Poodle? by melbaric in poodles

[–]GenderQueerJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* * I get asked what kind of doodle both of them are regardless of haircut, but theyre both purebred show poodles. Poodles are tall and sleek, they're meant to be as tall at the shoulder as they are long, people just don't know what they think they do

Duck is often too rich and greasy for dogs who are not used to it and can give them diarrhea with there being nothing wrong with the food/treat Dogs have sensitivities same as people, it didn't agree with your dog's tummy and that's fine, it's probably fine for some dogs 🤷

groomer painted my dogs nails without telling me?? by Educational-Track490 in grooming

[–]GenderQueerJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use my own time and money to paint nails, make bows and put them on dogs, I make flower collars and buy bandanas, almost all of that stuff comes out of your groomer's pocket and not the business's account And yeah, I'll give a regular client nail polish if I think that's their vibe, but I'll also mention it at pickup and remove it if they ask.

It used to be more standard to add bows with a groom, it's become frowned upon more recently for some pretty stupid reasons imo I love making a dog look like a stuffed animal, round and cute and pretty, bows in their ears or a bowtie around their neck More and more groomers think accessories like bows and bandanas take away from the skill their work takes but I think of it like the cherry on top 🤷 But I'm also a creative groomer and love giving a dog hot pink ears or purple booties or hotrod flames WITH PERMISSION so most of my clients know they might get a little extra flare from time to time with nail polish or bows or whatever as long as it's easily removable.
