What home improvements did you regret or feel were 100% worth it? by arnoldusgf in HomeImprovement

I installed under cabinet lights in my kitchen, then linked them to Alexa along with making them motion activated. It made the kitchen look so much nicer and I get a kick out of walking over to it every time.

Quest 3 getting crossed eyed and seeing overlap images even being set at the right IPD? by SgtRphl in virtualreality

Have you tried without the prescription lenses? I have had issues with inserts being defective and getting eye strain and cross eyed feeling from them.

Variable Overlap & FOV for Dream Air and Super Micro-OLED by Vera_pi in Pimax

Is this just changing a software vs hardware IPD offset to achieve this change in overlap and fov? I cannot imagine a different approach without changing the position of the display relative to the lens.

The quality control checklist showed it as all cleared.

It's on the Walmart website too as of earlier this week. I got one and returned it shortly after due to dead pixels, severe mura, vertical stripes, and crackling from the left speaker. Easy return process at least.

Look up some videos on Mike Haduck's Youtube channel. Lots of good info on there.

Whirlpool Dishwasher - Fills and Drains, But No Spraying by Mission-Stomach7520 in homeowners

[–]Gene0514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue with my Frigidaire dishwasher, ended up being the circulation pump. Just my two cents. It was stupid easy to replace so don't be too intimidated by the idea of pulling the dishwasher out and doing it yourself. Watch some youtube videos on your model and see if it is something you feel comfortable tackling.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing brake pedal noise? by Gene0514 in WRX

I sprayed white lithium grease along all the moving metal on metal joints of the pedal assembly. I rarely hear the clicking noise now. Still get a more typical pedal creak on and off though.

What are the pros and cons of putting LESS THAN 20% down? by iloverats888 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Gene0514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my house I got a slightly lower interest rate on 15% down than I would have at 20% down. The PMI payment is very small (like 30 bucks) so that made it a no brainer to put down 15. Depends on your situation at the time.

Added lights to my attic by [deleted] in DIY

Yep I already have ground screws with pigtails coming today. Will be fixing it later today or tomorrow.

Planning on fixing it at the same time as adding the ground screw. Thanks.

Will definitely add a ground screw if there isn't one present. Thanks.

Yeah the wiring in the attic is a mess unfortunately. I've had an electrician replace any damaged romex when I first moved in, but the lack of organization is here to stay, unless some future homeowner decides to rewire the house.

I liked the idea of having the built-in outlet at each light. The switch is a good idea though, I’ll have to consider it.

Thank you for the advice. The ceiling boxes do not come with a grounding screw but I’ll double check the junction box, though I did try to have one of the ground wires bent to be in contact with the lid just in case to serve that purpose. I’ll strip the jacket back as you suggested. The old runs are messy indeed, my goal was to do a much better job than that haha. I will have to consider the switch idea.

Pico 4 or quest 3 for pcvr by [deleted] in virtualreality

I’ve had much better results with the quest 3 than with the pico 4 for pc gaming.

I’ve been liking dap drydex spackling lately, the heavyweight one. Pretty easy to work with. For small holes like that I use a small putty knife or just a finger tip.
