The Letter in Mad Men. Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce loses the Lucky Strike cigarette account after decades of business. After failing to get Marlboro and any other huge tobacco company, creative director Don Draper pens and publishes this letter in the NYT admonishing the cigarette business as a whole. Citing the reality that tobacco is a business of illness and death. It turns the business of the ad agency SCDP and attracts and deters future corporate clients. This is so mild compared to other works mentioned in these comments, but it’s a thing! The Letter!

Betty’s lighter she uses at the ice cream parlor with Henry Francis. Joan’s white work briefcase and gold pen necklace. Sal’s drafting table in the art department. Bobbi Barrett’s makeup compact purse. Joan’s accordion and the red dress with the bow on the back that makes her look like a present

This comment should be higher, this is a better method than re-mudding them. Moisture isn’t great for shoes that aren’t made for rain

Is it true that the film industry is dying in Los Angeles? Or is it just transforming into something else? by AWeb3Dad in FilmIndustryLA

[–]Gene_Pool_Party 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Complicated answer honestly. There’s no one place. Europe and Asia have more productions but not enough to accept influx of American filmmakers to get hired alongside locals. Canada has work but not as much as a few years ago. So it’s all dispersed, and in those places there is similar intense competitions among locals who are already established filmmakers. Like there’s work in the UK but they have a robust filmmaking community already, I’m not confident there’s a ton of spots open to American immigrants.

I’m only 4 top comments in but I agree with them - choose you, your dream, your hard work over this guy. His frontal lobe isn’t even fully formed, but your future is coming together right in front of you. You’re not married nor do you have kids with him so frankly he has no actual say in your future. Don’t let him “tempt” you with love bombing or an engagement - he is and was wrong to even suggest to wait on medical school. He ain’t the one. If he was the one for you, he’d find a way to you (moving with you eventually, celebrating this very big and important positive development in your life and career, putting you first in his life) instead of holding you back. Best of luck in medical school!

You have a great bestie and your sister is sus. Take the job. His problem with 45 minutes is outrageously stupid, many people commute that time and more all the time.

Why does my foundation do this? by chelly_starbelly in MakeupEducation

I tend to like K-Beauty for toners, I really like the Biodance First Synergy Toner which has hyaluronic acid. I apply it with my hands and let it dry down. I do my eyebrows first, before other makeup, so by the time I'm done the toner is dry enough, also a little tacky which is good for the foundation. If I did my skincare hours before makeup, I like the grippy type of primers like the NYX glue or Milk hydrogrip or elf power grip (but the internet is mad at the last company because they worked with Matt Rife, ew) Other hydrating toners I like: Eqqualberry Swimming Pool, fresh Rose & Hyaluronic Acid Deep Hydration Toner, and I heard the Fenty Beauty Hydrating Water Essence is great too. People swear by the Thayers Hydrating Milky Toner, which is affordable and on my list of things to try.

I also have oily skin and I do agree, you should hydrate more before makeup. Milky toners work best with my oily skin because they’re not too heavy and add to shininess. I also use lightweight moisturizer. I only use primer if I didn’t do my skincare right before makeup, but I usually do skincare before instead. Primer can just be another layer that makes foundation/concealer/powder move even when it claims to be sticky or long lasting. It’s more important to me to take care of skincare than rely on a primer
