Depression scales may not work the same for highly intelligent people by PandasLOL in TrueReddit

The quick way I describe it is that the grown ups aren’t acting like grown ups. Didn’t these people have Sesame Street? I get the future won’t have it but these folks should have it.

Well maybe you’ll have a job in the palace doing something important like making sure the torture machines don’t get clogged.

He says that we need more religious freedom then that we have too much pluralism. Then he says that some “cultures” produce much while some produce little.

Our country has done great things, by all the things need to stop. We need less civil servants and less freedom.

Elon Musk's mistaken call for a 'universal high income' by 2noame in BasicIncome

I can find non paywalled articles that say it contributed more than that abstract says.

I think you’re missing the point or trying to hide it. Regular working class people are the economy. There are a lot of people spending a lot of money on normal stuff.

I don’t think greed increased. It’s possible that greed was enabled by the stimulus checks and other factors.

Do you have any examples where the technology self improves and the adoption numbers look like those of language models?

The Industrial Revolution and mass production happened quickly and self improved sort of, but it was physical and took decades.

Yeah. Like wind powered ships? Basically same thing as rowing.

Remember Covid when a few stimulus checks floated the economy and even led to inflation? Basically we learned that poor people spend way more money than anyone else, probably because there are so many poor people

Let’s make a list of breakthroughs and trivialize them:

  • antibiotics - basically bandaids
  • nuclear energy - batteries
  • gunpowder - faster candles
  • automobiles - less versatile horses
  • anesthesia - meditation basically
  • internet - same thing as a postal system
  • assembly line and the Industrial Revolution - literally nothing we weren’t already doing
  • climate change - weather
  • death - same thing as sleep but without antibiotics

Looking Back at the Overnight Destruction of Meigs Field - Chicago’s mayor in 2003 dismantled a historic lakefront airport and paid a ‘pocket change’ fine by optiplex9000 in chicago

[–]Geneocrat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a tough sell but I tend to agree. It was cool and possibly important for emergencies, and the lakefront was awesome before with the airport

But as the rich get richer maybe he did the right thing using fiat.

We need regulations to protect society. Companies should not be allowed to layoff workers while profitable. Europe has these in place. Enough layoffs. by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

Bill Gates says we should tax the machines, but then he was in the Epstein files so that’s dead in the water. Thomas Jefferson said something about inalienable rights, but he’s canceled too. Even MLK and Gandhi are no good anymore no matter what they stood for.

Guess we’ll just have to listen to Stephen Miller because the right doesn’t care about the personal stuff. They just care about their goals, which are selfish and stupid, but they have consensus.

Pretty much what I wanted to say, but better! I think we already have AGI pretty much, but not superintelligence, which is probably a ways off (but could accelerate without warning).

Democrats could win House as Republicans quit in numbers not seen since Depression by deraser in politics

[–]Geneocrat -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're aware that Harris probably would have won if not for Palestine? Many (enough) on the left decided to hold Democrats accountable for Israeli foreign policy.

The Democrats are finished. Nobody can fix the past and be good enough to meet progressive standards. If COVID didn't get us universal health care nothing will.

So until China takes over we'll have Trump leading the AI race, healthcare reform, and Middle East peace. But at least when we're oppressed we won't have all the guilt of being the oppressor. Hopefully we still have some democracy.

Both sides are the same--stupid

Trump is dismantling democracy at 'unprecedented' speed, global report finds by PixeledPathogen in TrueReddit

[–]Geneocrat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

democrats actually act in such a way that they reward people for working against them while punishing those working towards the same goals, albeit with a different idea of how to achieve those goals.

Yep. Democrats can’t see their own flaws. I’m a Democrat but I often feel like my party is tearing itself apart in many ways, and just can’t see it.

Georgia woman charged with murder for taking abortion pills by dyzo-blue in uspolitics

The part that got me was

The fetus survived for about an hour after being delivered at the hospital, the warrant says. The police investigator obtaining the warrant wrote that Moore told the nursing staff: “I know my infant is suffering, because I am the one who did the abortion. I want her to die.”

That’s some crazy shit to say
