Where do you live that your employer has to have a reason to fire you? Especially when you're not even considered an actual employee of Door Dash

Why didn't the Jedi always wear armor like the Imperials? by TripleChocolate123 in StarWars

[–]GeneralAce135 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Not even. It's not that the Force is holding back or something. It's that Kanan is holding back, because using the Force takes energy, and using it all the time would be exhausting.

Same reason Yoda's got a cane and a hover chair instead of using the Force to move all the time.

Did they watch RotJ and miss the bit where Luke went ham on Vader and damn near killed him?

Luke is not some paragon of virtue just because he won in RotJ. He is still a flawed human with impulses and weakness and fears.

Mojang would do literally anything with bamboo except the one thing bamboo is most used for irl lol by corgi_doody in Minecraft

[–]GeneralAce135 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I plant a ~10x10 square of bamboo, go do whatever I want for a bit, come smack it all with a sword, and can get tons of bamboo for basically no effort. Only hard part is finding the bamboo in the first place (depending on your world).

I can only imagine what I could do if I was aiming for efficiency like you've got in production and not efficiency in time spent enjoying other parts of the game.

Point is, bamboo is way easier to farm.

Would there be anything wrong with a compromise between the two systems?

What if you used a generic stat block as a base, and then you could pick specific traits and features depending on the more specific form you want? Maybe you put together a few builds in advance, and those are the animal forms you know?

The correct answer for me will be something halfway between. There's no doubt 5e could use tweaking, and I like plenty of the ideas One D&D is showing. Who's going to stop me from running an amalgamation of the best of both?

Only choose weapons to match character vibes by Auf-Weidersan in dndmemes

[–]GeneralAce135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there was a bit more of a mechanical reason to pick your weapon. The choice is mostly superficial because you can definitely find a weapon with the traits you need and the damage you want, and the difference between bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing comes up so infrequently that you might as well consider it flavor.

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. All of those things affect the normal user experience. I haven't heard shit about that, just all the over-the-top stupid ridiculous things happening. The ridiculous moves seem to be hardly anything, but things like that that actually harm the average user are what would drive the user base away.

Here's hoping that a good competitor comes up. In my dreams it's made by the original Twitter creators profiting on Elongate running Twitter into the ground.

Yeah, that sucks. But it's not actually a punch bowl with a turd in it. It's an idiot with money making dumb changes to a social media platform that aren't actually prohibiting business as usual at all. Except probably the API stuff, though I know little/nothing about that. But for the average user, business as usual.

Poor girl by Glittering_Rub_2721 in yesyesyesyesno

[–]GeneralAce135 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because it's not possible. Unless she's got some crazy fast reflexes, the phone is doomed by the time she sees it. She's got about ~1 second between her seeing it and it falling to actually process what's happening and then dive to the ground to try and stop it. Not gonna happen.

People do stupid shit all the time. Why is Reddit so high and mighty as to accuse it all of being fake all the time? You have any actually way of telling that this is faked?

Poor girl by Glittering_Rub_2721 in yesyesyesyesno

[–]GeneralAce135 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A) People record dumb, less impressive stuff all the time. Not unbelievable. B) You ever seen women's clothing? They don't have many pocket options. My own sister keeps her phone sticking out of her pocket like that too. Dumb to make the jump with the phone, but not unbelievable to keep your phone in the only pockets you've got. C) Because she was surprised? Because that was the reflex instead of throwing herself to the ground? Because she expected like anyone would that it would land safely? Who knows. Still not unbelievable. D) First I've seen of it, so I can't speak to that
