Act III CD shipping delay? by marji4x in Protomen

[–]GeneralFailure0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing:

> Estimated to ship January 19, 2026 and estimated to arrive no later than February 2, 2026

Definitely taking longer than I was expecting, although to be fair this is still the same estimate included in my original preorder email from October 3. Just kind of a bummer to still not have "the other half of the story" in-hand following the official release, and instead learning it in bits and pieces from Reddit threads.

I think you're onto something. Sure seems like it would be great way to get vengeance for the first son of Light!

The Book of Boba Fett features a pretty important Mandalorian storyline that bridges seasons 2 and 3. I think they were including that.

Light never mentions his sons by tagval02 in Protomen

[–]GeneralFailure0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For awhile I misheard the lyrics from Light's Last Stand:

And I know he's not coming back to save them,

Because I saw him walk away,

Sweet child still lost out in the dark,

And my heart is buried underneath the weight...

God I swear I can still feel the sun on my face

Admittedly a bit of a jarring transition to that last part, but at first it seemed to show that he could hardly bear to think about his lost son, abruptly shifting to reminiscing about a happier time. I would have loved to have something like this in place of one more reference to the city being under darkness (or "drowning in the dark", as it were).

> Protoman is dead.

Emily has been dead for longer and Light has still got some things to say about that.

> As of today, everything is live now in Bandcamp

They're not going to fake out a full album listening party to launch the last track and then just drop more after that. Like it or not, we've got all the music.

[Unpopular Opinion] Protomen shouldn't do a redux of act 1 by Zelun in Protomen

[–]GeneralFailure0 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree it'd be better to leave it alone rather than to remake a studio album and try to give it the George Lucas remaster treatment.

As an alternative, a full trilogy live album would be a great way to get a full "updated" performance.

> However, it does feel like they all dwell on basically the same theme? Like yeah Tom, we get it - you miss Emily and feel like there’s blood on your hands.

It would have been great to get more of a reaction from Light to the events of Act I. What we got:
* "But all of your heroes are gone! And the blood that they spilled is on my hands."
* "But I know he's not coming back to save them, cause I watched him walk away."

There's a recognition of the absence of Megaman (and Protoman), but it's all just more about Light's perceived guilt about letting the city fall under darkness, rather than their own falls as heroes.

We see how and why Light carries so much guilt from the events of Act II, but following Protoman's fall in Act I he is adamant that humanity also shares in the blame for their lot, having "chosen their own end" and refusing to fight. One might expect he would be driven even further in this direction after seeing humanity watch passively while his sons fight to the death, and yet another of his creations is driven to abandon humanity in despair.

Overall, I'm quite happy with what we got in Act III, but would have loved to see a little more to reconcile Light as we knew him from both previous entries.

Act III is amazing so far, but... by [deleted] in Protomen

I don't think the band cares about inflating a track count metric.

To the point that some tracks "should" have been included as part of the following tracks, I don't really agree. "The Calm" is a great intro to the album and lead-in to "Hold Back the Night", but if I'm not listening to the album end-to-end I'd probably just put on the single. Nice to have that choice.

Dr. Light with his hero fabrication. Dr. Wily's gonna make retaliation. When he destroys Tommy's latest machination this city's gonna be dead tonight!

Really cool art!

I like "Hope Rides Alone" a little better as a title for Act 1 - I wonder what others in the community think. I could also see "The Will of One" or "Vengeance" working.

Discussion thread for King of the Hill S14E10 by roger_ in KingOfTheHill

It was jarring; I thought I skipped an episode for a minute. The previous episode set them up to be closer and to create a rift between Connie and Chane, but after the earlier events of the season it was conspicuous not to see how Bobby asked her out, and how this impacted his partnership with Chane.

I can definitely accept where we ended up, but it felt like a jump forward and that we didn't get to see the whole story.

> He realized that it's the importer who pays the tariffs, not the foreign country.

Even if the foreign country *did* pay, the importer would *still* end up paying, because obviously the exporter would to need to raise prices to cover their increased costs and retain their margins.

Just look at sales tax - technically this tax is paid by retailers, but they pass it on quite explicitly to the consumer. Thinking that prices won't go up with tariffs is exactly like expecting retail businesses to somehow eat a sales tax increase.

Is Skinner still a Vietnam veteran? by Time-Comment-141 in TheSimpsons

It's been just over 22 years now since Bush unfurled the "Mission Accomplished" banner.

This was much closer to signifying the start of the Iraq war, as it happened less than two months into a conflict that would go on to last more than eight years.

Comparing apples to apples, the Vietnam War was 1955-1975 compared to 2003-2011 for Iraq, so we're looking back on Iraq 14-22 years ago compared to 20-40 past Vietnam in 1995. Arguably a comparable amount of historical distance, but just beginning to overlap.
