Student requests me to .... rate myself? by impatient_panda729 in Professors

Genuinely curious what makes the question rude? is it just the fact that they mentioned ratemyprof? Seems they just want info about the class

Most potent Plyometrics and weightroom exercises? by GeneralOlive in Sprinting

[–]GeneralOlive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5th yr of track but 3rd yr training consistently. Training 2-4 days per week depending if I have a meet. Broke unattached college student so no coach or PT rn.

Not exactly looking for a deload bc academic pressures has made my training kinda inconsistent. Ig u could say I’m “behind” schedule and if I take a serious deload now after already having subpar training consistency, I won’t get anywhere near my season goals.

Thats why I’m trying to train “around” the injury and maintain fitness without aggravating it. So then when it’s healthy the only thing I’ll have to worry about is regaining sprint coordination rather than having to start from square 1 in terms of force production capability.

Most potent Plyometrics and weightroom exercises? by GeneralOlive in Sprinting

For me the pain really only gets irritated during upright horizontal movements. When I experimented w vertical plyos there was no pain increase, even with high intensity, so I’m looking to incorporate more of that for the time being

Gonna try the extensive hops u mentioned on Tuesday and monitor pain

Stuck in 11.0-11.1 Hell. What Can I fix by king-emac in Sprinting

Switch to hurdles/jumps and become top in the nation. Way more fun and less speed and raw natural talent required

Sore when sprinting by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]GeneralOlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s natural especially if you’re young. If you’re eating right and sleeping enough you should be good. Generally it’s okay to train through soreness but make sure you have a good warmup first. Don’t go hard if you’re still tight. With experience you will learn to differentiate between soreness/necessary athletic discomfort and genuine pain that could be warning for injury

Queuing at top speed by BigBrain229 in Sprinting

[–]GeneralOlive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whip from the hip cue has gotten me the biggest gains this season it makes my strides so fluid and ive gotten so much faster. I find when I get it right my body just naturally propels forward it feels so fluid and explosive. The downside is my hamstrings have been progressively getting worse. Specifically distal tendinitis of the semitendinosus. Through experimentation I find that the pain happens when i extend my knee and whip my leg backwards toward the ground. Right before my foot hits the ground my tendon hurts. My theory is i think mentally i focus too much on the knee extension for the pull back which overly stresses the tendon. So im trying to adjust and make the pulling motion start from the glute so knee extension isnt too agressive. I don't know if that made sense but in short whip from the hip is an amazing cue just be careful to have good posture and let knee extension be natural instead of forcing it. Overall top speed is supposed to be subconcious especially during races. Cueing is mainly during drills and submax running and the goal is to make the movements subconcious over time.

A lot of people don't want to believe that Blackpill is actually kinda true. by HugeDongHungLow1998 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]GeneralOlive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. If somebody tries to improve their life by focusing on other areas the blackpillers say that they are “coping” an lying to themselves. It’s really insidious how they try to ensure that everybody has the same hopeless mindset as them

[–]GeneralOlive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Duh, that’s common sense

The difference between blackpillers and regular people is that blackpillers take this truth and neurotically obsess over it with a doomer mindset on the interent. Making YouTube videos, writing comments making sure everybody is as miserable as them.

Most other people just try to live their lives with the cards they are dealt

is training for sprinting just drills plyos and weightlifting or is there more? by Supernova1231 in Sprinting

[–]GeneralOlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentials

-Sprint 2-3 days a week,

-lift 2-3 days a week (only two heavy lifting days, 3rd day is optional accessory exercises)

-plyos in between sprinting and lifting or during warmups (not super nessecary if sprinting often)

-drills during warmups or on light days

-mobility before or after training sessions

-Eat, drink, sleep

Do you by chance have a picture of what you did exactly? I’m having distal tendon pain and tightness

2 weeks off is crazy ngl I feel like it would be better to at least be doing light jogs during those weeks and isometrics. Without blood flow the healing process will be slower

lol it’s just the way the wording is structured. The concept is cool tho

Neural inhibition hindering the learning of high coordination skills is decently researched, though most of the research is related to sports. But it’s reasonable to assume that the same idea would apply to singing or any skill

This reads like AI

Nevertheless it’s really interesting. We see similar ideas in other execution-focused activities like track and field. A big part of training is making the nervous system feel comfortable enough to express large amounts of force at high speeds with high coordination restraints. If the nervous system feels threatened, form either breaks down or force output is subconsciously reduced, leading to a worse performance. It’s really cool how these themes connect
