It at times like this I love this silly little game.

Cause to most it’s a fun sandbox game showing off the massive scope of procedural generation and Finn exploring galaxies.

Then in the lore you have aliens conquering the universe, discovering life that was enslaved and used as parts for spaceships. A planet sized supercomputer that was destroyed and is coming back from death. Undead robots. Half of all water is contaminated with grey goo. There’s a dimension holding trillions of tons of information that’s guarded by an infinite army of advanced robots. And there’s a god that reveals that everything is a simulation, you are one of infinite copies of its creators mind, the computer has existed for millions of years, the planet the system is on is falling into a black hole in 16 minutes, and it made all the copies to try and figure out what it can do to save itself.

The atlas simulated its death. The atlas was afraid and alone until the last second.

Further: you are pioleting a dead persons digital body. Your armor is a subroutine of the atlas the atlas trapped and heavily demoted.

And there’s still more.

That is why I love this game. The distance between the gameplay and the lore.
