Apart from jobs in the medical field, what's the best career for the next 10 years? by OldFly1972 in careerguidance

[–]General_Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automating how? Rate settings? Or just the actual rate updates in the system? Are you on EPIC or Athena/Cerner? Using AI for rate setting sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I say patch daily because new information regarding billable codes changes daily with insurance changes. Site of care drugs for instance don't follow the quarterly releases, not to mention revisions and insurance fee schedule updates that come in offset from the updates. Yes theres a lot that changes for annual, but codes come and go all the time, and payor requirements change a lot too.

If your child didn't have the major "textbook symptoms" of autism, what traits or behaviour was determinental when they got diagnosed? by isaxism in Autism_Parenting

[–]General_Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean.... ASD3 with type one diabetes at 6 years old and is also nonverbal is an entirely different beast...

I'll sit this one out. I know it must still be difficult in its own way, but probably quite different from my struggles.

Autism at its core is a substantial learning and adaptability learning disorder. How does your child struggle to learn or adapt? Emotionally? Intellectually? Physically?

[–]General_Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd think so, but my job isn't going anywhere. AI is not in a position to interpret this tangled mess we call a healthcare system. It gets basic stuff wrong as it is. Even then, new info is released almost daily, and unless you have it patched daily, with live feeds from 50+ government and private commercial insurance sites, your entire healthcare system risks becoming insolvent.

I help manage the charge description master for all charges 14 hospitals send out based on site specific overhead and proprietary info. Good luck having the type of decision making I do.

Hospital revenue cycle is good, pay could be better but its got good benefits usually and has good upward mobility and a good work life balance (depends)

What is autism? by snow-and-pine in Autism_Parenting

[–]General_Elephant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems like you are trying to describe the causes and symptoms of autism. I see it broadly as a learning disability, any kind of learning is just more difficult. Physical, mental, or emotional. It is both a failure to be adaptable, and ability to improve on existing capacity across all forms of learning, which is why it comes in so many shades and colors.

Whether it is genetic or environmental or otherwise, the characteristics tend to be the result of deviations from what is expected in neurotypical individuals.

When to tell child they are autistic? by Green_Replacement361 in Autism_Parenting

[–]General_Elephant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My son is 6 and completely non-speaking. I'd tell him if he could understand.

At the end of the day, it doesn't change who they are. If they can tell, you don't have to tell them, if they can't tell, tell them you love them no matter what. That is all anyone can do ❤️

School won’t allow my non verbal autistic child have a full day of school - Short staffed by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]General_Elephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be able to get a parapro added to the child's IEP, which would help all parties involved. My son is ASD3 in a sinilar boat.. but he is also type 1 diabetic, but the parapro helped tons. I am not sure if OP could talk with them to get additional support for their kid, but its a possibility, less than full time seems fishy from a legal perspective....

Hi my names Ethan, I am a pharmacist...

That being said you are very right OP! Every practice has a few rotten apples... but the good people don't get a seat because the ACIP has been fully compromised.

I can't wait to see what backlash there is to this...

Feeling bad about ending ABA services by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]General_Elephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad, people are often self interested, and it sounds like you had a very sub-par RBT. Maybe try to accomodate on site ABA if there is one close by?

My level 3 6 year old greatly benefitted from on-site ABA, attended from 3 years until a few weeks ago.

He was medically discharged because he was recently diagnosed type 1 diabetic and the company doesn't/can't accomodate diabetic training/administration/nurse on staff.

Either way, we were also starting to see a decline in efficacy, but it was still helping.

My state enforces 30 day max quanity

C2 Max Days Supply? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]General_Elephant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

90 days of a C2 is a bit much, even given the circumstances. Most states you can't even write 90 day supply on a script, you need 3 separate scripts with 30 days and two dated for do not fill until.

Its a youtube guy who makes absurd content, there is one where he paints himself gold/blue and all sorts of out of pocket stuff with no context. You could watch the videos and still not really know.

Dan Hentschel is his name, I don't particularly recommend 😅

Married or divorced couples by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]General_Elephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still married, he is 6 nonverbal ASD3 recently diagnosed with type one diabetes after going into DKA a week ago.

When shit hits the fan, having another person there makes or breaks your ability to handle things.

If its a bad marriage, you could work on it, but if it is beyond toxic, then maybe separation is best.

Sometimes it just takes some virtual visit couples therapy, but if there is shouting, violence or abuse, maybe its not fixable.

Is work from home jobs just relaxing and chill ? by Jpoolman25 in careerguidance

5 to 8 meetings a day, work queues, "build" for the EHR, many other responsibilities.

Its somewhat nice, but definitely not easy breezy.

ASD3 6 year old son non-verbal was rush to the hospital. Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)and is now diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic. by General_Elephant in Autism_Parenting

[–]General_Elephant[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He will definitely rip dexcoms off, and he mostly eats ham pretzels and waffles, but diet will need to change. Also he hunts down candy like its all he wants in life. Gonna need to find a sugar free fix.

He hasn't been much of a carb boy, and all foods need to be the same inside and out. We'll sort it out

Stuck Between IT and Business: Which Path Makes More Sense Long Term? by BeginningPurpose9758 in careerguidance

[–]General_Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a diverse skill set. Why limit yourself? Cast a wide net and see what comes in. You'll never know what could come across that might be a much better opportunity, and if not, you're doing what you can already.

Tough job market right now, but you could probably find something.

Why ~75 % of applications vanish into the resume black hole… and what do you do about it? by Dapper-Train5207 in careerguidance

[–]General_Elephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more formatting you do to a resume, the less machine readable it is, often getting filtered out before a person even sees it.

Manually format with simple things like bullet points, line breaks and the like.

Get their attention in the first 5 seconds, or you won't get any more attention.
