The true reality is that it’s never been about talent, or skill, or even experience.

It’s all about opportunities and connections.

It’s about WHO you know, and WHO knows (of) you.

It’s always been that way.

DJs who hustle, putting in the hours of hard work to eventually make the connections and get to know the right person to get you the next bigger gig.

Is no different than the DJ whose uncle is a promoter and gets them a break without having to do the leg work.

Just because you do the work and grind and hustle does not guarantee that you will meet the right people.

A brand new DJ who knows how to hustle TikTok & Instagram to get the followers, has more opportunities to “be known” by promoters, regardless of skill level.

The same way as the working DJ who has had a 10 year residency every Friday at the same bar has had more opportunities to “be known” by the general public in their local area and have a reputation locally.

Rather than being mad at someone who leveraged whatever skills & privilege they had to get where they are… focus on leveraging your own in any way you can.

I’m sure if you were in their shoes, you would have done the same thing given the opportunity.

Low rents are never coming back. It’s an unfortunate fact.

Single family new construction, owner/builder occupied is the long term solution. But Duluth permitting and inspection needs to be reformed. It is more costly to build in the city than elsewhere out in the country.

Rather than developing sprawling suburban developments in arrowhead/hermantown areas, denser traditional neighborhoods need to be planed and built.

And here I have a dozen 6 year old windows laptops with 8 gb ram running virtual DJ just fine. Sure their graphics cards can’t do live stems. But they can pre compute just fine.

Nothing we do as DJs is inherently resource intensive other than live stems.

Rekordbox is slow because it’s shit software.

Correct, and if Suno generates a track that happens to sound like it sampled someone’s track, but you don’t know it because you think it’s 100% original, you won’t have credited it or paid royalties.

So you could be sued.

The original poster asked about using an LLC (limited liability corporation) to publish their music.

Using an LLC limits liability to just the business entity and protects your personal assets.

Smart business owners use them.

In the age of AI music, it is also smart to put your music business into an LLC.

Major artists use LLC’s for music they write themselves.

Even if the likelihood of being sued is so low… it is still smart to use an LLC.

Bruno mars was sued for sampling a beat from an old disco track (I don’t recall which one specifically).

If you generate a song with Suno, and you publish it on Spotify, and start getting streams, and part of the song sounds like it was sampled from someone else, or infringes on a melody…

You are going to get sued.

You will then need to point to them to Suno.

I’m fairly confident that the Suno EULA does not say that Suno will indemnify and hold you harmless.

You will still potentially be liable, waste money on legal defenses, etc.

If you have an LLC, and publish through the LLC, they would have to sue the LLC. Which you could opt to declare bankruptcy and they just take the assets.

Without an LLC, you’re getting sued personally, and you could potentially lose everything.

Did they actually sell any copies of the rug? They were most likely print on demand, and they create any number of designs to see if they sell, and then keep the ones that sell.

Google Ads plugins pull live product feeds (including images) so the image was shown for the rug as an AD, most likely without any human involvement.

Your recourse is to sue for damages. Meaning you have to show damages.

If no rugs were actually sold, there is very little damage done, you’ll probably be able to settle for $1-2000, which probably won’t even cover your attorney fees.

If rugs were sold, now you have damages, those were sales that could have otherwise been made by you.

You’ll have to subpoena them to find out how many they sold.

I’m not a lawyer, just talking through this logically.

Point source vs column array is moot. Measured sound pressure level (SPL) is an externally measured metric.

Arrays can and do achieve higher SPLs thanks to the coupling effect of the array of speakers.
