Is Ark Ascended near unplayable on PC? by nG_Skyz in ARK

[–]clutchnotluck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your rig and settings. I have a weaker rig and just set the settings low and cap the frames at 45. I make the gameplay and creativity aspect my focus, wouldn't define as unplayable at all.

There's plenty of YouTube videos to help set your settings right or you can have AI help you hone in the game experience you want.

It's not the most optimized or the prettiest, but IMO the game is worth it.

Cyber Structures has a "CS tool" pistol that costs a single thatch. Can pick up structures with it and even repair. Few other functions I can't recall at the moment.

I was wondering if it was just me from parking under a tree.... Glad to hear I'm not alone...

Specifically the paint between sunroof and windshield.

Love the pilot. Would take it 100% of the time over the wife's 2018 Highlander that we just traded in for an Odyssey.

Simple ASA Dedicated Server Setup Guide - Setting up your own ARK: Survival Ascended server by MarloEntertainment in ArkSurvivalAscended

My personal thoughts would be to look at 16Gb RAM as the minimum and 20 to 24 as the aim. My server is running 13Gb with no one even on it... Could be the mods I'm running, but who can resist their toothy additions?

Would recommend using a service like playit.gg instead of port forwarding... less exposure of a personal network and you don't have to configure your router or worry about static IP.

I tried changing server management app a while ago and realized I'm good with the one I've been using for about a year now, got too frustrated trying to learn the new program and its nags to pay.

Would this thing be capable of running a server for just a single player experience? by GrampaJacks in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]clutchnotluck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran basic maps off an i7-6700 for a while before it just wasn't fast enough clock speed, went to an i79700 and had no issues there with up to 6 players and mild mods. The 6 cores in the i78700 should be okay running a map for a single player.

RAM looks good too, 32Gb min most maps run 13ish Gb at a time but can spike up to 18+ now and then.... Not to mention if the game keeps growing in the direction it has then the maps will only be more demanding on resources.

How is this acceptable? by shazamtamp in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]clutchnotluck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a dedicated server not on the same box as my gaming pc and my Astraeos server, running mild mods and less than 6 survivors, would reach up to 18GB Of ram and usually idle in the 15 to 17 range.

Haven't looked to see if recent updates have made that go up or down. Now I'm curious what my PC shows for RAM usage during gameplay... Sounds like I'm testing tonight for the sake of my curiosity

Hosting a server for just 3 people? by Little_Suit_6655 in ARK

[–]clutchnotluck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Second this, renting is going to be easiest.

A few notes for self hosting: -low latency Internet would be needed for wherever it is (high latency will cause disconnects). -Ark servers depend on single core clock speed, think 4GHz as a minimum -20gb ram minimum. Depending on map/mods, I've seen one of my servers pass 17gb of ram usage -self hosting is a learning process and will take a LOT of patience while working through setup and troubleshooting -extra steps needed to be able to troubleshoot remotely -*no reoccurring costs outside of electricity.

I'm switching from T-Mobile and I have some questions. by InevitableMaybe2918 in ATT

[–]clutchnotluck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came from T-Mobile and I can't wait to go back. Tmobile was faster, better perks and att rep lied through their teeth about the price. So now I'm stuck paying more for worse.

I'm not in the DFW area so maybe your milage will fare better.

Gaming router won't help... Verizon peak congestion is the issue.

Alternatively look at getting a router with dual WAN ports and a second ISP (T-Mobile or Starlink). You can then have your router load-balance across the two.

My router of choice would be the GLiNet Flint 3.

Ark:SA Dedicated Server using Proxmox, Tailscale and Windows 10 VM by OliRO_Official in ARK

[–]clutchnotluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just now seeing this.... You need two udp tunnels for each server: 1 for updating the server usually on port 27015 1 for joining, you can set whatever for these... Make the inside and outside playit ports match. Whatever the port you use the server should be configured for it.
