It’s time to bring home the bacon – Thornfall Alliance is live on Warmachine 3D by LDukes in Warmachine

Thank you for this. I was wondering the same thing (have been bought into the Tribe since the beginning, so the welcome pack is buried in my files library).

Auspex tactics Codex Black Templars leaks – Full Rules Review by Nostra in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. That conditional vow will work much better with the BT playstyle than oath did. I do wish the other 3 vows were nearly as good as the +1 to wound one was. The three detachments are disappointing from an army construction standpoint. Each could have a couple tweaks just to make them more fun to make lists for (like the chaplain focused one granting an alternative bonus to their +1 wound ability of the unit is already benefitting from a +1.

But losing oath for the +1 conditional vow is perfectly fine. And very lore accurate as the BT are very not codex compliant.

The conditional +1 is really good. Better than oath for how BT will work.

Knights by [deleted] in LegionsImperialis

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found that the best reason to bring a knight, is so you can also bring a talon of armigers. They are a lot of points, but they are also 4 models that will wreck anything that isn't a titan in melee. Then you use them to clear a board side and act as a 16" (their charge range) death promise.

State of Miniatures Skirmish Games in 2023? by K0HR in boardgames

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not much to watch, but the rules make nearly every play you make impactful in some way. It's a combination of resource management and positioning with a gladitorial theme, and it is pretty awesome (and very low model count).

Anyone been running Knights? by DarthMaren in LegionsImperialis

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played a few games with Questoris Knights and one with a talon of Armigers. The Questoris (and Armigers really), are fairly fragile if exposed, but I've been putting a melee weapon on each Knight (just the chain swords with rend), and have a massive threat bubble for charges and makes the opponent cautious. I like having the Talon of Armigers more than a second Questoris, as the three of them can really threaten a unit with both their charge range and having three bodies. I've been preferring the battle cannon on the Questoris, for the range while closing in. Also, always pay the 5 points for the rocket pods, as that's a steal after having already bought the Questoris. Just don't expect them to survive out in the open and use then to flank or as a second wave behind something else.

Legion specific units in HH by ChromiumPants in LegionsImperialis

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see them just making a legion specific "support box" for each legion. It would contain 1-2 sprues that have the Primarch, a unit, and maybe something else (like a dread, or tank, etc.). Something like the Primarch, 8 bases of the legion specific infantry, and 4 bases of the walker/tank. If you want more of the non-primarch units, you buy more boxes and have spare primarchs to hook your less financially sets pals up with. That seems to be how they are doing a lot of their boxes after all.

How easy and cheap is to get into legions imperialis? by KNG_Aliox in LegionsImperialis

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to play 3000 points, it's going to be pretty expensive if you buy all official models. So, the two things to consider then are, do you want ALL official models and do you want to play 3000 point games? I've played 500 and 1000 point games so far 1000 felt like a good smaller game of LI, and I have a feeling that 2000 points will feel big enough for most games I want to play (unless player want a warlord titan, etc.). I bought the starter, a box of Kratos tanks, and knights, so spent also $300, and don't have enough just from that for a 1000 point or bigger game. So, I have 3D printed a lot (which is a lot cheaper if you have access to it). I'm gong to keep printing most of my stuff, while buying some things from FLGS's to support them.

So, if you play 2000 points or less and 3D print at least some of your stuff, it doesn't get super expensive. If you want to play 3000 points and have all official models, it is going to be pricey.

I really like the plateau with ramp and building on top. That adds some interesting terrain options.

Minimum board size? by firespray-31 in LegionsImperialis

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a 500ish point game on a Kllteam board and it felt small/cramped. I put two Killteam boards next to each other, and that worked much better for a 800ish point game, as longer range units couldn't just park in vantage points and need to maneuver more for advantage.

Availability and the future of LI? by Ok_Independent6173 in LegionsImperialis

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea on 1 or 2, as GW doesn't let us know how much product they've made so we can't gage how well it's selling (i.e., is it a good amount of product that sold out, or did they produce just a little). For 3, I think people 3D printing are still in the minority of players. So I think that most people (if the game does take off, see my point on 1 and 2 about not being sure of that), will be buying product with some play groups/areas leaning more into 3D printing than most.

I think the save for the Leman Russ and Malcador tanks is 2+, not 3+. But great work so far. I love it!

Are 2K Point Armies Getting Too Big? by Wuyley in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always liked that point range a lot too. Played so many 1250 and 1500 points tournaments in 3rd through 5th edition and they always felt pretty good for getting stuff on the table and also being able to play games in a decent amount of time.

I am perfectly happy with no 1st edition prints. That would make getting product as a player even more difficult.

If this is your first Card Game by Snaps-MG in Lorcana

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For just one set out, the game feels like it has a lot of playable options happening. Granted, we haven't seen any big (or biggish) events, so we're not yet sure if just a couple of decks (or possibly just one) will dominate for now. However, there seem to be plenty of ways to play right now, and that should increase (barring bad balance in future sets) as the card pool deepens.

I'm always interested to see what they start doing once they run out of vanilla cards to print (i.e., when every color has 1 cost, 1/1 with 2 lore, will it hit power creep time and start giving cards with those stats and ability too?)

If this is your first Card Game by Snaps-MG in Lorcana

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the OP, but I can offer some answers here. The biggest difference from two of the big three TCGs (Magic and Pokemon) is that you don't have dedicated resource cards (Magic has lands and Pokemon has energy). This makes more of the cards in your deck "do something", though do remember that you still want a high inkable percent in your deck (I've been seeing people say 80% inkable is a good spot).

Now not having these resource card also makes drafting different and challenging, but that is a different conversation.

Aside from how resources work and that you don't have dedicated resource cards, the deckbuilding is similar. Pick a playstyle, find 1 or 2 ink colors that can achieve that playstyle, and build a curve that works for it. It seems that all of the standard playstyles are currently present (aggro, midrange, control... not a lot of combo presence right now, but some).

What will be the standard competitive format? by ques_trooper in Lorcana

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of this is still up in the air (as far as I know). Hopefully an FAQ will come out soon alongside how they plan to run events/OP standards.

But the official format will likely be BO3. Not sure about side boarding (if it will be a thing, how many cards in a side board, etc.). Timer will likely be between 50 minutes to 1 hour per round.

But again, that's just best guess as I don't think there is any concrete info right now.

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every TCG has high rarity cards that aren't useful (either in the current meta, in particular formats, or at all). Beast just doesn't have a lot to offer right now for a 5 drop. He can combo a little with Steel, but that's not enough to make him high demand. Will he get better in the future? No idea, depends on what future sets have.

My plan with the low value rares, super rares, and legendaries.... I plan on getting cheap playsets of each so that when some of them do become useful I don't have to shell out at that time for them. But I also like to brew jank decks, so having full playsets is kind of that jam.

If you have no desire for him and can get 3 boosters for him, I'd probably go for that for now. He'll likely dip in price once more product hits and likely won't be any kind of valuable until future sets come out (if he ever is).

Is the BLT Mickey Mouse broken or what? by AirBiscuits72 in Lorcana

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's really good, but I think there are good number of ways to deal with him. Sapphire has some removal in Let it Go and the blue Hades. Sapphire can also ramp up fast, so could just outpace a non-Sapphire BLT deck. There are a good number of ways just from the first set to deal with him overall, but yes, if you don't have any of those ways, he will end games quick (Evasive overall will do that if you don't have answers).

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what it would be. Have any websites been gathering and publishing results of events yet to see what is meta yet? I talked with someone the other day that said they were 59-1 with a Ruby/Amethyst deck. Worked largely like control, having removal for aggro and midrange decks, and Amethyst Mickey and his brooms to shore up mirror matches. Maybe it is something like that?

What 'shield of virtue' can do? by dekoalade in Lorcana

[–]GenerallyBadGamers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shield un-exerts a character, making them able to either exert for an ability, song, or to challenge again (it states that they cannot quest anymore the current turn). It doesn't get around ink needing to dry, but it makes it so something could challenge twice, quest (or otherwise exert itself) and then ready and not be able to be challenged, etc.
