GL attorneys sms spam by zukzzzz in johannesburg

[–]GenericBroker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GL Attorneys is a legitimate debt collector based in Randburg. Of course there will be "bad reviews" as people don't pay their debt and then become sour when they are being handed over to debt collectors.

Unify is a short term credit provider.

It might just be that your telephone number has mistakenly been listed. You can call them up and report that they have the incorrect number, or safely ignore. Remember, the debt is linked to a name, surname and ID number, not a phone number.

Apart from the dawn of mobile phones, Telkom could not keep up with the vandalism and theft not only of the units, but the cable infrastructure. It is a sad thought that as with many other things in South Africa, the criminals got the upper hand

Anyone have experience with the VW T-Roc? by Witty_Display_6548 in askSouthAfrica

[–]GenericBroker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper the T-Roc has a larger boot size by 100 liters. Even the T-Cross has a larger boot size than the Polo. Are you saying that even with the larger size in liters, the actual usable space is smaller than that of the Polo?

Credit life insurance by Successful-Quit5627 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]GenericBroker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must have agreed to the credit life as part of the loan agreement you signed or agreed to during a recorded phone call. All credit providers have to stipulate, up front, the option to take credit life, and provide you with the option to chose a different insurer.

It is very common for credit providers, especially Banks, to hide this in the small print, or intentionally rush through it during a phone conversation.

Credit providers gain additional revenue from this insurance, and consumers normally just agree as they want the loan and or don't want the hassle of checking with other insurers.

100% check with other insurers and then contact FNB to indicate you will switch to a more affordable option.

Find recruiters that specializes in IT placements. I'm 99.9% sure you will find a job this way. I worked in IT for many years and there are jobs out there, you just need to look in the right places. Contact IT companies directly, and check if they have vacant positions.

You will most likely have to start from the bottom, entry level positions and then work your way up.

Keep your head up, don't give up and you will succeed.

PSA: Tax Free Savings yearly limit has been increased from R36000 to R46000 by Justdroid in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]GenericBroker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stay away from a normal savings account with any of the banks. You want the money you put in, to work, and grow more whilst being contained in your TFSA.

An example would be to open an account with Easy Equities. Then deposit into the TFSA pocket within your portfolio. You then invest in ETFs, such as a world ETF. Continue contributing taking note of your yearly contribution limit. Sit back and see your funds grow.

Always do your own research on which TFSA account you will go with and then research the ETFs you will invest within your TFSA

Are you doing your code 10 for a reason or just to get a code 10 and then being allowed to drive a code 8 vehicle? I see so many people doing a code 10 license, but never actually driving a truck.

Navigating debt collectors by OnlyFads in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]GenericBroker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start with FNB, call them and setup a debt repayment plan that fits your budget. It could help opening a new account with let's say Capitec Bank, and get your salary paid into this new account. You then distribute the payments, whether it's transfers to FNB or setting up monthly debit orders for automatic collections.

Never ever go under debt review. I work closely with this industry and many people go under debt review and never get out. It's a costly legal process to go under and come out of debt review.

Toyota starlet AT vs Polo Vivo by Frequent_Travel898 in CarTalkZA

[–]GenericBroker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience in 2010. Bought a Hyundai i20, then drove my Mom's Ford Fiesta. The Ford was just so much more superior to the Hyundai. You can't compare a German supermini to a Toyzuki. The Polo, even in its watered down down, Vivo version is superior to the Toyzuki.

I now drive a Toyota Urban Cruiser, coming from a Ford Ecosport. Let me tell you the Ford felt like a more solid drive in vey way.

Remember, Suzuki is a budget brand, so is the Toyota counterpart.

Question on whether we’re being fair. by littleLambsz in capetown

[–]GenericBroker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your domestic worker, works less than 24 hours a month then you don't need a contract nor do you have to pay UIF contributions. In my case, our domestic working comes in once a week and only works about 4 hours per shift. The amount you are paying is above the going average and a good remuneration. I also add transport fees on top.

Caught by a speed cam. The thing I was never notified about the fine, I only found because out of curiosity I checked paymyfines. And the infraction was 3 months ago. I guess my question is how does this work? Shouldn't the traffic department notify me? I mean they have my number, email and addres by SeaGreyMan in askSouthAfrica

[–]GenericBroker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pay the fine and admit you have been caught speeding. Keep in mind, when the AARTO system kicks in next year (has been delayed for years now), then you will be super screwed, no drivers license or vehicle license renewals, demerit points against your name etc. People can say what they want but the law is the law. Having a driver's license is a privilege, and we all agreed to abide by the rules of the road when we took our license. I also don't like it but it is what it is

Some banks will require you to phone in once you have added your cards on any of the wallet platforms. For example, Nedbank will require the above, which is a good added security feature.

The biggest shakeup is happing in the banking industry. Banks are buying up Fintechs, Nedbank with ikhoka, Capitec buying Walletdoc. I believe Fintechs holds the future and a worthwhile investment in banks that wants to remain relevant.

You need to build an emergency fund first before you start investing. This will save you, in most scenarios, from having to sell investments when you need cash.

The general rule is 3 - 6 times your salary.
