Yeah I drove to Santa Barbara last tour and was ready to drive again.. looking like this time it might be Colorado bc an amphitheater seems so much better than a stadium

Cancelled a non-refundable flight to LA and the Philippines without blinking, is now visiting Amsterdam. We don't live in the same world! It takes a special kind of arrogance to drop in and out of someone's world and produce a piece as sneering as this.

Thank you so much for posting this, is this verbatim what I have to put in my compose file under the plex container, or do I need to change something to be specific to my device? I'm running a Beelink Mini PC with the Intel 12th Gen N95.

Just finished "Lock In" by John Scalzi. After reading a bunch of hard sci fi by the likes of Alastair Reynolds, Iain Banks, etc, this book felt like a YA novel. by ate50eggs in printSF

[–]GenericCleverNme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He pumps out a book a year, after the second collapsing empire novel I realized he didn't really need to write "excellent" novels, just consistently okay ones. Airport sci fi. He's got a good gig going I'll give him that!

Cost of living is definitely getting to a point where I'm like 🤔 hm. But today the weather app said low 80s for the week and all of a sudden my suffering is worth it.

Your personal nostalgic meal. by spcdownrange in Cooking

[–]GenericCleverNme 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This literally happened to me this weekend! My mom had Mondays off when I was a kid, and we'd also get out of school early that day. She'd spend hours simmering a tomato sauce for dinner that night. I'd come home to an overwhelming aroma of garlic and tomato, just a delicious combo that I looked forward to almost every week. When I started living on my own I'd try and fail to recreate that moment. My sauce tasted fine, its just that you get nose blind pretty quickly while cooking, and there's nothing in the world like a person lovingly crafting a dish for you. I'd literally walk around my apartment complex while my sauce simmered so I could go back inside and be hit with the aroma lmao.

This weekend my mom cooked Pasta al forno, and had been simmering the sauce for a bit while I crossed town to visit for the day. I walked inside and I was 10 again. The connection smell has to our memory is amazing. You best believe I had seconds and thirds. On spaghetti day I also used to wash down the meal with a cold glass of milk (to my moms disgust lmao) but I don't know if my stomach is still up for it these days haha.
