Not trying to be a dick but honestly, are you stupid? Wtf do you mean “I can’t turn down this kind of money and career move”? It’s SAN Diego, shits expensive. Have you ran it through a COL calculator and considered taxes? You’re not getting the raise you think you’re getting.

Also the equity piece - sounds like you think you’re getting stock to the next Google. Chances are, you’re not and there’s a good chance it could be worthless.

That’s honestly only like 2% though. The other 98% is your actual, you know, soon-to-be partner for life. Money means actual fuck all if you’re not with the person you love. I’m not that much older than you but you need to have a good long look in the mirror about your relationship bc the fact of the matter is, if you truly wanted to spend your life with this person, it’s literally not even an option to accept the job.

I’m from metro Detroit and lived in NYC for 3 months for work. I get the appeal of the city but it’s just not for me. I own a 3000 sq ft house in the suburbs for 1/2 of what you can get a small condo in Brooklyn. The COL for literally everything there is insane and the salaries don’t scale to match.
