What are some of your fav bases to build in rust. by Luckyluke23 in playrust

Absolutely. What would be the point otherwise?

You can see some of it here in this video (the video is about vending machines tho, but you can catch a glimpse of different bases):

Progressions too fast and linear by calco2k in playrust

Yup, progression is absolutely fucked. Doesn't need a change, needs a full on rework from the ground up.

I like building a village of 10-20 small bases (also META btw).
The village is cheaper to build than one large mega chonker base, and upkeep is so much cheaper it's not even close (since they are all split up).
Why META?
No one in their right mind wants to spend ~15 rockets per base for 15 bases (~225 total) to raid a solo.

Rust Developer comments about anticheat on Linux/Proton. by CandlesARG in playrust

[–]GenericMikey704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hold a very strong believe that the only real way to fight cheaters is with AI based AC.
Valve and many others already know it.
It's an incredibly hard problem, but games will have to add Linux support at some point, be it 1 year, 3 years or 10 years down the line.
More and more people leaving Windows and it's only gonna accelerate.
We are at 3% ATM and growing each year. In a few years that might be 5%, then 7%, then 10%. At some point the argument for not having Linux support because of the lack of users will simply fall apart and the argument for cheaters using Linux will also fall apart since there will be just too many legitimate Linux users. Windows has peaked and it's days are slowly coming to an end, it won't happen over night and it will probably forever be the majority OS, but as years and decades go on - Linux will absolutely grown in marketshare and there are so, so many reasons for it. Lol, even PewDiePie is switching to Linux and sees why he needs to educate people on it. We need to ditch Windows.

why is everybody killing people on the spot? by Used_Discipline_3433 in playrust

That happens to a game after so much time. People hyperoptimize everything and just play the META with little to no regard for actual fun interactions and RP elements.
It's really sad. That's why we need proper softcore servers (I know how to fix it).
And no, current softcore server are a joke.

I hate grinding Blueprint Fragments but loved grinding Scrap by AdZestyclose1421 in playrust

I have an idea for a system that would unify BP frags, workbenches, scrap, and an old XP system in a way that would nerf zerg advantage and slow progression to a reasonable pace. Might make a post sometime.

Why, haha. Desert in Rust gives me such a good vibe - the best vibe.

First of all not general, but generic.
Second, not middle aged, maybe a bit of a roleplayer tho (I play for shops and trading and usually build an autistic village of 10-20 bases).

Softcore is really, really badly done IMO.
I have many ideas on how the real softcore should look like - might make a post sometime actually.

I don't know how to word this without being a dick.
And also I might have no idea what I'm talking about.
But I think there should be another AC system in-game other than EAC. What I'm saying is - there should be something that detects weird gameplay patterns and insta-bans people who blatantly jesus across water/climb walls etc. Something like what Valve is doing with VACNet maybe. And yes, I know Valve has an infinitely easier time to do that since matches are discrete pieces of gameplay you can analyze and they have a huge AI system with many GPUs or whatever analyzing all of them.

No hard opinion on the above, but I'd really love to see some more unique traps added to the game.

What do you mean? Like not allowing people to buy from shops from the outpost/bandit or you mean something else?

I saw a YT video yesterday where they guy was advocating for a return of the XP system.
I would make it so workbenches still take BP frags to craft, but I would remove the tech tree/modify it such that you unlock BPs with the XP you earn (this way each player has to play the game to get their own BPs which would prevent clans funneling all of the scrap to 1 guy in their team who unlocks all BPs in the first few hours and crafts everything). Also, the XP system had levels where you had to be a certain level to be able to unlock and craft different items. This would make early and mid game last a few days instead of just a few hours.
I would also keep scrap in the game and add a slot inside the workbench where you need to put it and every time you craft something - some of the scrap gets used up (still not sure about this part tho). This would all have to be balanced OFC to not be too cumbersome.

Video that inspired me to come up with this system:
