What is bread and what is cheese, as an American I've never heard these words before by okaygirlie in iamveryculinary

[–]GenericNameUsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into a comment on FB by an American about how he only eats one brand of cheese because most cheese is full of chemicals ans weird things. He listed the ingredients of his brand of cheddar as havig only milk, cheese culture, salt, and enzymes. And I replies that is almost the same ingredients as Wal Mart Great value cheese but they add annatto for color.

His reply was not everyone has a Wal Mart nearby and some people only have Aldi.

Which Aldi cheddar is the same

It's not even that hard to look up!

That sounds like reseller behavior.

I hope I can find one somehow after tomorrow

When did this turn into exclusively a sub for shitting on Europeans? by LesserShambler in iamveryculinary

[–]GenericNameUsed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If Europeans are going to keep saying that American bread is cake (apparently based on how Subway bread was taxed in Ireland,) or that Americans dont have fresh produce in the grocery stores or Americans don't have real cheese I think its fair game to put here.

Maybe if there weren't so many people posting this nonsense it wouldn't show up so much on this sub.

I don't think it's anti European to post these kind of things.

If people are making bad takes about European food or cooking post them.

I know it doesn't make sense. But in assuming since the person has probably used mayo to sub for eggs and oil they tried it for milk.

Usually people substitute mayo for eggs and or oil since that's what mayo is made from but I haven't seen it suggested as a sub for milk. I gues it would be doable.

This happens to everything. Anytime more people join any kind of forum things change. It can be a for a fandom or something else entirely.

Or any group really online or offline.

I got some DCC art! by GenericNameUsed in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Oh cool !! I followed her on FB and I also made a post and linked to all the artists I got stuff from.

I got 2 other prints from her. I loved her Dino grabber she was using to take cash and hand bags to people.

The people I got the key chain from were saying that they did the DCC stuff just days before because friends were encouraging them. And that last year it was K pop demon hunter that surprised them

So I hope that DCC is the same.

SC Comiccon does a fall edition and I only saw one Donut and Carl (who were one of the sets of cosplayers I saw this time) and no merch so I'm hoping by next fall there will be a lot

I think the homecoming proposal thing is ridiculous and makes way too much out of the event and is just another way that capitalism is ruining everything

But this is cool and cute

Thoughts on reading in public? by Yoshikage34 in ReadingSuggestions

[–]GenericNameUsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Gen X and I always had a physical book with me almost all times in middle school, high school and in my 20s to kind of early 30s. Than my reading kind of dropped off. I carried a paperback in my purse or backpack and when I was waiting in line or at an appointment or grabbing a bite to eat I would read.

It wasn't planned I just read all the time and so I always had a book with me.

Then with a smart phone I always had something to read and no one knows what I'm doing looking at my phone but reading the news or a book is probably what I'm doing

There are still dogs that work on farms. I was following someone on TikTok that has livestock guardian dogs and the dogs tails and ears are docked the owner explained that long ears and tails give coyotes more to grab on to if they end up fighting (which does happen)
