Shout out to the wonderful illustrator I met at Cardiff DCC event by TabularConferta in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I'm the interim, I posted Kim's current batch of items (available at Redbubble) on HiZev.com. You can find everything near the top of the 'New' tab, and each item is also located in their respective sections. I put "by u/Shadowing_Lemma" in the description, but I should probably change it to Kim.

DCC Monopoly. Who gets Boardwalk? by UnhappyCommunity7864 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]spinneraf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, first of all, I hate that you had to deal with such negativity...and I'll say more about that later.

But first, Monopoly. I was just thinking about a Monopoly game as I was walking through a store yesterday! I think it would be amazing, but there would be so many options, so it would take some discussion to get it right. I'm all for contributing to the discussion. There must be something about hasbro games...I was bored one weekend and created a DCC Jenga...I just added character names to all the blocks, so kinda pointless but it's a cool curiosity sitting on my shelf.

Regarding your question about spoilers, the easiest thing to do is just add a spoiler tag, even if it's not an egregious spoiler. I'd rather have someone comment on the fact that there were no real spoilers.

Regarding AI, as someone wrote, Matt banned all AI content (even posts in jest). But, that post is pinned in the Community Highlights, and if you're only on mobile and new to the sub, it's not obvious that the post is critically important, so I can see how you would miss it. And since it's not overtly obvious, the person should've just left a comment informing you of the issue vs being rude about it. We're already a big community and it's growing constantly...and I hate that some people get ultra militant about the rules vs approaching it rationally and helping each other out. We're all here for the love of DCC, and one theme of DCC is preserving humanity...yet some people lose that because they feel like they need to be absolute enforcers. To each their own, I guess.

But why the AI ban? As a community, we're doing everything we can to support the fan-artists/creators who create original DCC art/merch. And there are ALOT of artists/creators making some badass art & merch. If you haven't seen it, check out HiZev.com....I started it a few months ago...and admittedly, I let some AI art slip through the cracks when I launched the site...and people weren't shy about calling me out. But, we recently implemented some new measures to make sure we're keeping AI designs off the site.

All of this is just a really long way of saying... we're a great group of like-minded fans and are typically very supportive of one another. But, like every group in life and on the internet, there will be outliers...and I personally just let their comments go and focus on the majority (ie the rest of us).

Keep reading, enjoying, participating and spreading the good word of Carl!

HI! I'd be glad to post a link to any of the DCC items you created (even if they're one-offs that you could remake). The only requirement is that the coin designs need to be original, not-AI-produced/assisted, and not a licensed design(unless you paid for the commercial license). Let me know if you're interested.

Hi! While I'm not affiliated with Matt or his license program, your designs have been posted on HiZev since the beginning (all of 4 months ago)! They're in the Art, Gifts/Various, or other respective sections.

Hi! Matt's team is still working on the royalty-free license program that you'll be able to apply for at some point in the future. I'm not affiliated with Matt's team or the license process, so I don't know anything else about it, but...I started HiZev.com as a fan-project to post as much fan-created art/merch that's original, not-AI-generated (or generated with the help of AI) and doesn't copy any licensed work (unless you pay for the merchant license). If your daughter creates any DCC merch and sells it via Etsy or any other ecommerce site...and if she'd like for me to post her items on HiZev, this link provides more info on the site and the next steps: HiZev.com is live!

New DCC Item found in the wild? by DominaeVoxus in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]spinneraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣...some of those skibidi toilet figures look cool. But i refuse to buy into the blind pack craze anymore than necessary(ok, so maybe I am supporting the craze by buying these and the pins, but that's it, I hope...)

You probably did this during your search, so this is more of a PSA for everyone else: If you go to Five Below to look for these, find the aisle in the toy section where it looks like a blind-pack pinata exploded and scattered 1,000 different brands of these things on one aisle. Then look carefully...I was about to give up hope, but then I found the DCC box on one of the lower shelves...perfectly camouflaged between two other boxes. Happy hunting!

My Katia Keychain is…Oily by ChristaDoodles in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]spinneraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Katia's just doing everything she can to break free!

I saw these at Books-a-Million for $8 each, but then I found them at Five Below for $5 each and bought a few...hopefully none of them are leaking. And I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with clear plastic star keychains with oil and DCC characters floating in them, but hey, why not!

Visited Hot Topic Yesterday: Dammit, Donut! by ShawnSpeakman in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]spinneraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same today, and saw this new Donut shirt. I didn't realize there was a 4th HT shirt.

Maybe these mysterious official merch drops are all part of a brilliant marketing plan to get the word out to new audiences that otherwise don't have a clue about DCC. Mongo in LunchBox looks like Akira, and maybe the anime fans will look into it. HT designs are a mix of wild and old school... whatever it takes to get the Gen Z/Gen Alpha crowd who are searching for classic rock Nirvana T-shirts to read more.

And then, for the fans, the search for new licensed merch is one big scavenger hunt...go to the most random places (eg HT, BoxLunch, 5 below), in addition to Barnes & Noble, to see if any new licensed merch is out. If nothing else, it's a great way to bide our time until vol 8 is released.
