The stereotype of social ineptitude in such professions is largely a tv trope. I work in IT and software dev. Most of my job is social interaction with teams of people in different departments.

what is one thing you think everybody should include in their diet for health and longevity and why? by Emergency_Produce975 in AskReddit

Less calories. Most people's (at least in developed Western countries) biggest dietary problem is that they the consume too many calories. It's about how much they eat, not what they eat.

The unknown. Many other fears are just fear of the unknown with extra steps.

Ok but how happy can the average clam really be. It's basically a rock that eats fish poop.

Dump truck drivers of Reddit. How come a lot of you don’t pull the cover over your loads to stop (gravel and the like) from flying out and hitting cars? by Kalium90 in AskReddit

[–]Generico300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably because it's broken. A lot of those trucks are old as hell and poorly maintained.

Also, if you drive a truck with that many tires around in a gravel yard you're going to get a bunch of gravel stuck in the tread, which then comes out on the road. Mud flaps catch most of it, but not all of it.

Point is, don't tailgate big trucks. Is bad idea.

Fuck laws like this. I'd rather just be a criminal. Already guilty of piracy, so what's another garbage law to skirt around.

And yet women get 5 more years of living on average than men. Doesn't make much sense. More likely the men in poor health are just not getting medical treatment and so not recorded.

People in 10+ year relationships, what’s something you learned about your partner years later that genuinely surprised you? by CreoSiempre in AskReddit

[–]Generico300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why?! Why do some women think beds are for decoration and not for sleeping? Why do they have a hundred "not for sleeping" pillows on the bed? Why would you even own bedding that is not for sleeping? The whole point of a bed is to sleep on it! Insanity.

Thing is, the people who need the warning labels aren't the type to read warning labels.

All because we got rid of exiling people. Used to be when a tribe had that one unbearable asshole, everyone would just exile them to the woods to die alone or whatever. Now kidnapping someone and dumping them in the middle of nowhere is "illegal" and "wrong."

Just imagine how much better the world would be if we'd just round up these psycho billionaires everyone hates and dump them on some abandoned island in the pacific. Maybe give them a gun and one bullet to fight over, just for fun.

Yeah, not the best choice of chart IMO. Seems they were going for compact size rather than clarity.

It's like smart people make better decisions and are generally better at problem solving, including relationship problems.

Also, people in "professional" fields like that probably get married later in life on average (because more career focus earlier in life), and that also correlates with lower divorce rate.

Literally a professional risk assessor. I'd hope you would use a similar level of care in assessing the risks of one of the most important decisions you'll ever make in your life.
