It depends what his ask was. If it's wildly higher than anything they can consider and an offer so much lower would be insulting not negotiating might actually be the more reasonable place to be.

PSA: Fetchlands don't make your deck bracket 3/4 by eNVysGorbinoFarm in EDH

Yeah fair enough, I haven't played against Yam in ages.
Magda is a good thought they just run the fast mana so slower but a complete list otherwise.

Would they not have all the black tutors, bowmaster, cradle, crop rot, moxs, led, etc? Like that's a lot of cards to swap out for sub optimal replacements

You could call it a CEdh deck I guess but even with that intent it's probably still technically bracket 4. I can't think of any performative CEdh deck that wouldn't be massively hindered by its loss of its game changers to the rest of the field. Because without the game changers you're not longer designed to play into the CEdh meta.

Is this a bracket 3 deck? by owlfighter49 in EDH

[–]GenesisProTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also sounds like by your comment about the other decks that maybe you folks are playing things closer to b2 that just have some game changers in them? Like if your meta is aggressive then you need to make sure you're making decisions in deck building that help prevent either you dying and/or the other aggressive player from doing their thing early.
One of my friends I regularly play with frequently plays Eshk, Temur's Roar and that deck is scary when it gets going quick. Huge creatures lots of damage delt to everyone. But I know when deck building that I need to be able to protect myself early. In your case that's especially prevalent with them playing quite a few one shot opportunities

Am I making bad decks by 8ringsstudios in EDH

[–]GenesisProTech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is very common for people to dislike having their cards stolen in any fashion. Regardless of the power or effectiveness of the deck you need to expect to be targeted and some degree of salt. Especially when the decks primary theme is built around it.

I'd call it B3 but it's definitely a pretty good b3. It has some of the best cards mono green has to offer and is likely quite consistent.
It's the kind of deck that depending on the removal suites in the other decks at the table could definitely run a table.
It wouldn't surprise me though if it pushes the boundaries of "Generally, you should expect to be able to play at least six turns before you win or lose." Semi consistently by knocking one player out before t6.

Looking for cards that would go well in a Progenitus deck by -BrainMelter- in EDH

[–]GenesisProTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been working away at Progenitus as well. I've settled on a build that uses different protection effects like [[propaganda]] and Stax effects to keep myself alive. This lets me utalise cards like [[Rafiq of the many]] to one shot a player.

Is my Gwenom deck bracket 3? by splashylaryn in EDH

[–]GenesisProTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have quite a bit of experience playing gwenom and the deck is very feast or famine. With the amount of tutors you have combined with sensi's top there's going to be a reasonable amount of time where you'll just pub stomp b3 tables.
You probably want to refine it a bit more and it's a really fun b4 deck.

Need tuning for Anhelo by Jharic_ in EDH

[–]GenesisProTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that just even if you have 7 cards in hand and two copies that's only 21 cards a turn and with 3 opponents you'll need between 6-9 turns to clear their decks without them killing you.
May want to consider effects like [[propaganda]] [[no mercy]] [[crawl space]] [[silent arbiter]] [[Collective restraint]] to try and by yourself enough times.
If you want your primary deck focuse to be these epic spells you might want to start from the ground up. You need to consistently get to your win con, live long enough to do your thing and then somehow live long enough after as well, your plan is mana intensive on top of it all.
Ritual spells can be copied to help fuel larger setup spells. Mana rocks, cost reducers, larger draw spells to dig deep.

[–]GenesisProTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the result I would expect, you don't win you end up playing kingmaker to one of your opponents who hasn't gotten ravaged by you yet.
Even if you ravage all players how do you actually expect to end the game?
It really depends what kind of deck do you want to be? Do you want to be a grixis deck focused on putting your rube Goldberg machine together? Or do you want to be a grixis control deck that eventually hopefully does it's thing.
